Default *HELP* Idle Issue *HELP*

Alright guys, ive tried everything and cannot figure this out..i have a y8 intake manifold that i threw on my a6. Everything bolted up correctly and went good. THE only issue is she is idle surging. i have cleaned 2 different iacv's and switched them several times. no improvement. i have checked all vaccum lines for leaks....nothing. i have taken off the fitv...took it apart AND cleaned it. no improvement. i have no idea whats going on. i used an A6 intake manifold gasket, and also put a new tb gasket on. i have no idea why she is idle surging.

Any and all suggestions would be helpful. ...

i dont believe the y8 has a fitv.. i suppose its possible he is using a different throttle body which has one though.

curious why you didn't just post the link for cleaning the fitv. wouldnt it of been easier lol

hmmm. how bout that. i looked like everywhere and could only find one pic of a confirmed y8 tb and it didnt have a fitv on it.

you say it surges after it warms up, but doesn't do it when you first start it? is that right? sounds to me like it would be the iacv then. put your finger over the upper hole for the iacv and see if the idle stops surging. if it does, then the iacv is the issue. either its internally malfunctioning, or the figure 8 shaped seal isn't sealing all that well anymore. if you however plug the bottom hole and then idle goes back to normal then the fitv is your problem. just do as the writeup sais and clean er up, then hope for the best lol.

LOL maybe i did use my old a6 throttle body. idk. but alright. but its weird because it rarely started to do it when i had the a6 manifold on...and now its just ridiculous. but i will do that tonight when i get home from work. i will keep you guys posted. thanks for the input and support

with everything installed did you ever plug one hole at a time to see if the idle would return to normal? if you can't get it to go back to normal then you've definitely got a vacuum leak from either a hose or at the intake manifold surface where it mates to the cylinder head.

yes i did that....it has to be a leak somewhere than...i think this friday, i will take the manifold off and check the gasket, put another NEW one one and triple check everything. will keep you posted. thanks for the help so far. will also triple check hoses

u could try to just temp. bypassing the fitv all together, the coolant line that is, if the surging goes away then there u go, if not i would def. check the iacv next, followed by vaccum leaks, check all ports n hoses, quick check for vaccum leaks is to spray carb cleaner around the intake with the car running n if there is a leak it will suck the carb cleaner in throught that leak n u will be able to pin point it that way. just curious it's not throwing a code or anything for the map, tps, iacv, after u changed the manifold, reset the ecu just to be sure
