MAJOR problem, neeed help please!
okay im still a kid and dont haven a lot of knowledge on how cars works. but i got 1988 ef stock single cam. and my problem is that it wont start!!!!! it died on me coming home from school and it wont start up again it cranks and everything but it wont start. what could be the problem? i got a brand new distributor 2 weeks ago...my fuel pumps work. its not my ECU i tried my cousins ECU and it still wont start up. i have spark on all my spark plugs. i have gas. i have enough compression so why wont my car start?
check your grounds/ starter/battery(yes i know) spark cables/distributor coil(might have gotten a bad one) main relay.
try those out.
what does it do when you turn the key?

what does it do when you turn the key?
when i turn the keys everything turns on. it jus wont start..i thought it was my main relay but if my fuel pump works wouldnt my main relay still be good?
spark-fuel-compression...
compression- car was running fine, and died all of a sudden- so probably still ok
check spark- i know it hurts but at least you know for sure.
fuel- pump working- check for pressure at the rail- no pressure, check fuel filter. good pressure, check resistor box.

crank your car for about 15 sec pull a plug and hit it on ur hand .. the electrode side(the side that sits in ur engine not the side the wire go on) let us know if you get a ring and if you smell gas(on the plug) im thinking ur not getting fuel
just cause the pump turns on donest mean you dont have a fuel prob .
also how r u checking for spark? i know its a dumb question but i have to ask cause you said ur kinda of a noob
lol its ok we all start somewhere at least ur trying
oh and u said it clicks have someone crank your car and make sure it is turning over (watch the belts to make sure the motor is turning )
does the car dim alot when you crank to the point where all the lights and the radio turn off or just a little
i know im asking alot of stupid ? but you have to rule out all the stupid things cause non of us are there to see what your car is doing and ever little bit and every detail matters

the way i was taught on how to check spark was...to take out the spark plug and spark plug wires and put it near a ground and see if there spark.
i can smell old plugs that havent been in a car for months and smell gas on it
thats why i said to crank it for about 10 to 15 sec cause if you are getting gas to the chamber and your car isnt starting the plug will be wet if you smack it to your had it will leave a nice wet ring
was the plug wet tho

see thats the kind of detail we need every little bit counts
try pulling the out line on your fuel filter(the line that goes from the round black can looking thing to the motor)
lol and heres the fun part dont strip the lines then with safety glasses on and a few rags turn on the key to the car and see if you get fuel out of the fuel filter and by the way when you take that line off fuel will come out rite away that dont count tho

try what i said before turning to internet-land again. these are very simple systems to diagnose, and I just spelled it all out for you.
i agree defly dont over think it chase everything back in a line esp with the fuel system lot of easy fixes you
will prob find out you have a plugged line or filter lol
