i can hear a small ticking by or under the valve cover and when i rev it up it gets faster and loud. does this mean i need a valve adjustment soon?

 

probably in need of a Valve adjustment or oil level might be low. Thats if it does it when its warm. If its just when u first start car when its cold (which your in TX so thats prob not a prob) then its normal. Just the oil getting to the head.

 

A little ticking is normal, but you could always check your valve lash if you're worried about it.

 

i had loud ticking from my motor. What i did was do a valve adjustment last night. Right after it was done, i started the motor and the ticking reduced drastically. Some loose rocker arms and some too tight. Like the guys said, small ticking is not a problem and is normal.

 

oh thanks for all the good info, it just made me think something was wrong with my car because it seem loud for being a stock car
