All good track pads are pretty expensive.

Ones to try are:

1) Porterfield R4
2) Carbotechs
3) others.....(let's hear from the others)

You should expect shorter pad life with these if you're using them hard. You can usually get 2 track days out of a set (depending on the length of the run sessions, the track layout and the weight of your car).

Also expect a LOT of rotor/pad dusting. Dark colored rims are a good idea.

For fluid I recommend Motul 600. Some people use the Ford HD truck fluid with good results.

Track use only...

1. Porterfield R4 a little pricey
2. Hawk blue, eats up rotors quick
3. Anything else that Andie recommends.

For the ITR, I recommend Axxis Ultimate in the front and the rear for the street, and the Ferodo DS3000 in the front for race/track-day. The Ferodo DS3000 is one of the top-end race compounds, and has the flattest torque curve of the various compounds mentioned here already. This allows for faster on-off pedal, and thus faster recovery times, which yield better pad and rotor wear.

HTH... -Andie

HP+s are okay if you are a beginner, but as you learn to use your brakes more effectively, these Hawks won't last you too long. Although, HP+s are very nice auto-x pads.

I think I use my pads pretty affectively and have had a set for 3 track events and 2 seasons of auto-x and they are still well over 50%.

HPS however are not quite up to track duty but great auto-x pads.

I have not yet tried Panthers but might soon. I get Hawks so cheap I hate to switch. I can get a set of front Hawk HP+'s for $45 . . .
