Default need help before throwing in the wet nitrous kit

here is the deal this is for a friend...
the car is a 1994 civic hatchback with a d16y7 with a p06ecu he is planning on going with the 80 shot wet nitrous kit. He is planning to retard the timing 2 degrees but he isnt sure what spark plugs to go with he is planning on running with ngk's but he doesnt know what part number to get since he was told to get a colder plug he is on stock injectors and stock fuel pump from a 2000 civic ds. What do you guys think? it would be great if you guys tell me what ngk's plugs to go with so i can forward the feedback to him. Thanks

In an NGK plug the higher the # on the plug the colder, so if it calls for a ZFR5J-11 stock then a ZFR6J-11 is 1* colder. I would just use the NGK V-power plugs and check them regularly (like after every bottle).

Stock gap is 1.1 so I would set it at 1.0 or .9

Yep, those r the ones I would start with and if he burns them up pretty quick then go one more step colder.

Hmm... Interesting. According to a friend for a D16 Y7 manual the stock timing is 12 apposed to the D16 Y7 automatic will be 10 degrees stock. At least that is what he said but i guess he is wrong on that one so he should bump it up to 14 degrees??

What kit is it that u guys are planning on using? Reason I ask is because a buddy of mine with a 95 ex just took OFF his VCN-2000 venom kit which is a mix between a wet and dry shot. It uses a solenoid to pulse the nitrous which is controlled by a programmable nitrous computer (thats included) that you can set the nitrous level from 10hp up to 175 shot. It then also gets wired into ur injector harness so it richens up the mixture by changing the pulse width of ur injectors. It also has an LCD screen that goes on the dash telling you RPM, system status, whether u running LEAN or RICH, ur throttle angle, injector pulse width, and a few other things. Its a pretty nasty kit and it ties into ur stock O2 sensor so it knows if u are starting to run lean and cuts off the nitrous before any damage occurs. Anyway- he took the kit off and is selling it I believe for around 500 bux. Venom doesnt make the kit anymore, because nobody was buying it because of the initial cost of $1400. Feel free to google it or look it up its the VCN-2000.

Yep, the venom kit was a good kit 4 the time but since it used the stock o2 (narrow band) it wasn't real accurate. I have never known a D or B series engine 2 run less then 16* stock, if u set the timing 2 14* u'll b ok. The mark in the middle of the 3 on the crank pulley is the 16* mark too.

LOL maybe for ONE RUN! A 150 shot would kill that motor so fast I would not do that to any motor unless it was meant to be rebuilt after EACH RUN!

A good rule of thumb for using nitrous on ANY CAR (with stock internals) is to not go above 50% of what the engines stock hp rating is. So for example you have a civic that is 125hp stock, you dont want to go above 50% of that so about a 60 shot. If you have a mustang that is 300hp stock you dont want to go above a 150 shot. I have had good results using this rule and as long as u dont get greedy with the nos u will have fun with it for a while.

This rule applies to what the engine is stock, BEFORE you put mods and bolt ons on. If you add an intake and exhaust which gave you 20 extra hp you DONT add that to your number that you are taking 50% of because the internals of the engine are still STOCK.

it was a joke but i have seen many ppl spray 150 on a stock z6 a couple times a week at the trck and it last for awhile. but ur rule of thumb dont sound to fun. i have a buddy spraying welll over a 500 shot on his mustang lol. 250 off the line and then another 250 kit is turned on halfway down. stock block stock internals
