Hello everyone im looking for some help on my "set up", I have a B20 Vtec in a eg hatch. I do not want to do anything to the block for now, but I want to do some other stuff to make it faster but do not want to strap on a turbo or supercharger or even "Spray". Here is a quick breakdown of my "Set up".....

Ive installed 4-1 tri-Y headers and it felt slower. Im also wanting to change the intake manifold which one should I change it to? Skunk2 or should i go with Edelbrock?

 

damn dude, there are so many way of getting your answer, and even if some one where to give it to you, it would be from their own bias opinion.. Use the search button and start looking up for your answers. for example if you want to find out witch one is better for your set up search skunk2 vs edelbrock manifold. and compare set-ups.

I have Neptune

 

Does it come tuned with Neptune? Not sure how those work, I've been out of this Honda enthusiasm thing for 9 years. But I agree with civic_r87111 that if you didn't get it tuned yet, that's definitely a plus.

Here's why:

1. B20Z - On average these cost about $1000 in good OEM condition. The gain over an OEM B18C1 is usually +10 hp and +15 ft-lb torque to the wheels. So that's like $100 per whp.

2. Type R Cams, I assume these are ITRs. On average they cost $400 or so for a pair and don't give much a gain. I'd say 5whp tops. But that's still not bad considering it's $80 per whp.

3. 4-2-1 DC headers generally will give you more mid range power and more torque so it'll 'feel' more powerful. But if you check the dyno charts that 4-1 should give you more overall whp. These are like $200 used and gains are on average for an stock setup, 5whp. So that's $40 per whp.

So far the B20Z would had been the most expensive investment. Even if you bought it for much less than $1000, it's still worth $1000 because someone out there is willing to pay $1000. Value, what others are willing to pay, not what you actually paid. So all in all I'd say the next item on your list should be something that'll give you the best bang for the buck.

Get the engine tuned, then through the dyno you'll know for sure where you stand and will even see an improvement if the tuner helps you get it there.

For $300, my tuner helped me get +12whp and +5 ft-lbs using Crome. That's not bad considering it's still $25 per whp. So yeah, if you haven't done it yet, find a tuner and invest a few hundred dollars into that. Definitely the best bang for the buck as your next move knowing where you are and what you really need next.

 

Yeah, a neptune base map isn't going to cut it but u have the potential already there so find someone to actually tune it out and I think u will b happyer with everything.
