Default Type r head and intake manifold.

Im running a type r head and type r intake manifold in my 99 si but still on the stock b16 fuel rail and injectors. I was wonderng if my car would run better with the type r or upgraded fuel rail, type r or upgraded fuel injectors and better fuel pump to compensate for the power and air? I have chipped p28 so i would get it tuned later.

But my concern was my cars idle fluctuates from time to time..and sometimes when i fill up on gas it has a hard time starting and idling..i have to give it gas for like a minute. maybe the p28 is the problem?? any help would be great thanks

oh ok i just saw the rail was like tubular and the b16 is rectangle. I think my injectors are clogged or somethings because i here like a ticking sound like at 4k rpms and up. oil pressure is good, i have a new fuel filter, new distributor, no cel. just an oil leak by the oil pump and that jumpy idle at times

that ticking sound could be your valve train asking for a valve adjustment.. a motor doesn't care what shape your fuel rails is, it only want a the fuel. what makes you think that the ticking sound is related to the shape of your fuel rail or injectors... i would love to hear how you came to that conclusion. unless what you are hearing is pigging, anyways get your car tune and all that bs will disappear

nicely said. how i came to the theory, not conclusion, of that ticking sound was maybe my injectors trying to spray but are dirty or clogged.

It's more likely that it's your valvetrain that's out of adjustment and not your fuel injectors. Your Si fuel pump is also exactly the same as the type R pump. Fuel is not your problem.

ya i was thinking that, because its starting to all come together. I guess im just trying to find an excuse to buy new better stuff...lol! I adjusted my valves twice and have intake at 0.007 and exhaust 0.008.

So the smaller the number the tighter the lash correct? If thats the case im going to put intake on a tighter 0.006 and exhaust on the tighter 0.007.. i thought it was the other way around

if you idles is going up and down constantly reset your iac, unplug the iac with the car on and turn the idle crew in your TB down till your car is at around 500RPM plug it back in and is all set, if this doesn't fix the problem just get the car tune.

obd2 manual b series did not have the fast idle valve. if you're runnign a p28, try unplugging the evap purge solenoid.

fast idle valve and idle adjustment screw are two seperate things, I believe you have them confused.

The helms manual gives you correct methods on how to adjust idle. If you still have idling issues, I would clean out the IVAC with brake fluid, or check for a vacume leak.
