My new crv project $500 daily driver
Im new here and just wanted to post up a couple pics of some stuff i am working on. Here is my crv project i just started. I bought this from a little old lady who purchased it new with 5 miles on it. It now has 230k miles on it.
I bought it for $500 and spent $550 on a jdm b20b cause the old crank pulley decided it wanted to fall off. Here it is.

Its very clean. I will update in a couple days when i get the motor finished. Im putting a new oil pump on with crank sensor. Then im gonna throw some new wheels on thursday and lower it. I have a killer suspension set up im gonna try.

Thanks guys. Im still figuring out what spring rates im gonna use but im gonna run Koni sport front and rear, using an accord front and eclipse rear. Koni sleeves and hypercoil springs.
i picked up one too, but mine was 1k and it's got a fresh head cuz the timing belt snapped on the old owner..
is yours pink too?

great pickup. CRVs usually aren't anywhere near that cheap.
Unfortunately I think you'll find the B20b a bit lacking in power. IMO, the B20z is underpowered in these things.
Other than that though, they are pretty good cars. Mine's awesome in the snow, and I've hauled a whole swap 400 miles in the back of it.

ill miss it for sure, then i put up my civic on sale, coz im gonna
focus on crvs now, to stand out and for our Vs to be recognized..LOL!
good luck again on the build!
I just bought your twin! I just got a 99 black crv as well for $500. same deal but mine had a rod through the block. I swapped in a JDm b20B as well. Before you pull the oil pan and swap the oil pump look up CKF bypass by splicing 2 wires with quick splices at the ecu you will not throw the ckf code and the car will run perfect. it saved me a whole mess of time as well as aggravation. I found the best write up on rywire http://rywire.com/store/faqdesk_info...11a1d5e9ef9832
it says for civics and integras but it works with the crv fine as well.

There is tons of stuff that can be done to crv's and there better then the average cookie cutter hatches because u are not going to see them at every meet 500 bux was a crack head deal !!!!!!
it is, the only issue was she had a big hairy dog, so there is dog hear everywhere but it vaccumed right out. and i put a new headlight in it cause the other had a rock chip. I just cant wait to actually get it on the road so i can start doing other **** to it.
As far as the bypass, i went ahaid and just threw another oem oil, water pump timing belt and tensionor on it. Thanks hondapartsdeals.... they are cheap!

I swear we are working on the same car ! Mine was full of dog hair from the lady that used to own it. pull out the interior cabin filter, mine was completely clogged with dog hair and dirt.

That write up is nice, but from experience... don't use the "quick splice" connectors they show there. Use solder and electrical tape and some extra wire to do that. Those connectors suck and don't make good connections all the time.
not sure if you were referring to me or the OP but I got a 99 crv but got the earlier b20 and swapped the newer manifold on it, it was $500 picked up in jersey, 3 month warranty.I still have the old engine if you need any parts
well anyway you just replaced your V w/ jdm b20, thats the one with no
knock sensor, right?? you just re used your knock sensor from the b20z?
Its a 97. I bought the earlier b20b lower compression. I went ahead and switched out the oil pump with a brand new one from honda along with a new water pump, timing belt and tensionor. I will add some more pics later on, with the new stuff on and engine in. It will be running tonight. I am seriously debating on turbo only because i have most of the stuff already. That will come after the suspension though.

DO IT!!!!!
lol....

ive been thinking a lot of doing it since my V got already the vtec head,
but if my other V needs a new transplant, if this thur my mechanic said so..
i might pull the b20/V from my current V and put it in my DD then buy a lower
compression b20 then slap on my other Vtec head then go booooooost!
here are a couple more pics, im slowly working on it after work every day. Its all togeather, the only thing im lacking is a usdm b20 crank pully. I went and bought a new belt, It dont fit!! the pully diameter for the jdm b20 is bigger and the usdm belt dont fit and it hits the front torque mount.

back togeather YAY!

got the light and grill back in.

what do you think about these wheels?

more pics when i get it out of the garage and start the suspension
