so i got popped for non compliant jdm motor (jdm b16 a in a ef ) does anybody with past knowledged know if i can sell it as is before i go to court ? what do i tell the judge or what will he ask ? is there a fine ? etc ...what can i do ? thanx in advance ...

 

sell the car as-is and get it in writing...go to court and pay the fine...if you still want to keep the car then part out the jdm motor and buy a used d15b2 motor...end of story...!!!

 

And I still laugh at how cabrones claim you can Bar a JDM engine swap!

sorry to jack your thread but does this mean it is illegal to swap a sohc or dohc zc into a crx without getting it bar'd? so basically if it isnt considered an exact "replacement" engine then it needs to be bar'd to be considered legal....right?

 

Example CRX si can have a JDM single cam ZC in a swap.

Crx with a DOHC ZC is a no go.

Now CRX with USDM GSR CRX with a jdm B18C (GSR)

Same here. I love my 90 1.8L Acura bar sticker because it doesn't state which 1.8L motor. LSV and I'm legal.

 

in california, its illegal to swap ANY motor that isnt the original one, without bein approved by BAR. The motor cant be older than the body, and the emmissions sytems have to remain stock, and pass a smog test.

and yea...you cant get a BAR sticker with a JDM sticker nowdays. dont think you ever possibly could, but the Refs see a jdm motor during inspection,,,automatic fail

 

and oh yea to ykni, good luck sellin it before the court date. sell cheap to some sucker or street racer

yes...this is the same motor that i replaced my d15b2 motor with and is completely legal...remember you must use your d15b2 or d16a6 emission components and not the zc sohc emission parts...!!!

claim you can bar a jdm motor? Well, you can. my car has a b20b bar'd into 94 hatch. silly ref for passing it. Good friend has b20b bar'd into crx. I was told b20's couldnt be bar'd into these cars let alone being jdm motors and yet both cars passed with ease. I suggest going to the ref and seeing what he says.

you obviously passed bar from a crooked or a incompetent ref because a b20 light truck vehicle motor is not legal to pass bar in a passenger vehicle...!!!
