Default Crack in Block!! how to fix? Picture

1995 honda dx
got stock a d15b7
I did a temporary fix with irontite and it blew out after a week.
I took head off today, and antifreeze appears to be getting in 2 cylinders do too a crack in between the cylinder walls. Is there a way to fix this without getting the block machined. I was thinking about drilling it a tad and using jb marine weld to fill it in the crack, swipe with razon, then spray new headgasket with copper seal? any ideas?? i need this fixed

Well your lucky that the sleeve is not cracked. You can try to open it up a little more at a V and then fill it but damn. That is a ghetto fix.

Very true :S People give away D15 blocks around here... I don't think anything you can do will hold due to different expansion rates.

Trust me, the 92-00 Civic forum is more active.

You mean "when it fails" you will replace the engine.

Bad advice, but if you want to go about it your way, do your fix, and add some headgasket in a bottle to your coolant. Just plug the coolant lines going to your heater core, so you don't contaminate it...

I don't understand... Why don't you just get another block? All your labor isn't worth taking a chance when you can pick up another block for $20.

"scrap it for its weight"

I would not want to drive a car, when i knew that something like that is wrong. Just strait up asking for trouble.

What happens when you are disabled on the side of the road? how you going to feel when **** hits the fan?

The way i see it is Get that thing out of there.

I'd replace the block. By the time you do your ghetto repair, have it fail, and then have to rip it apart and redo everything again, you could have easily saved time and money picking up a new block or entire d15 for that matter. They're cheap engines and in a lot of cases can be had for free.

just an update, hand carved out a v, layered the marine weld 3 times, and sanded it with 2k grit carbide sandpaper, its probably 25 degrees in my garage, putting 5 light coats of copper seal on the headgasket tomorrow, and throwing it together, hopefully the head bolts dont crack, If she doesnt run right, ill park it and throw B18 in over summer
