Cleaning out a engine ? ?
Hey guys, ive just took my b16b apart after it burned a couple of rod bearings out. I'v noticed a few little metal bits here and there and i really want the engine spotless of these bit when i put it back together. Whats a good thing i can use to flush the oil channels out and clean the engine internally with ?
Cheers Guys ! !

Sounds like you are in a heap of trouble. The only thing I can think of is to get a magnetic drain plug and put magnets all over your oil filter then run it for a bit and change the oil. Maybe change it a couple times.
The engine is in bits mate. I just want somethink to run through the oil galleries to clean them out a bit. I'v got a compressor in my garage to so ime going to blast them out after.

Ha!
OK. Get a big bucket and fill it with mineral spirits. Soak the engine in it. Brush it out with a stiff bristled brush. Then rinse it in a different bucket of clean mineral spirits. Or take it to a shop that rebuilds engines, heads, etc. and have them do it. It probably wouldn't be too expensive.

If you've got it in pieces just take it to a machine shop and have it magnafluxed and cleaned. This way everything will be cleaned and you'll have a block that you know isn't cracked or damaged from any of the shavings.

I would but i have no way of getting the block out so i'm going to have to do it myself. There's isnt a lot of shavings to be honest just a few little bit here and there.
just my opnion and thoughts
magnafluxing is only used on iron blocks. They use iron powder and magnetize the block. Aluminum isn't magnetic, so it won't work.
Just spray the block down with oven cleaner and pressure wash it. When you get a block hot tanked, that's basically all they are doing, except they have what essentially a big dish washer they put your block in.
Also, what the guy above me said. Get it checked out and make sure nothing important is messed up.

I havent full on spun a bearing, ive just burned a couple out. The crankshaft has hardly any wear marks or scratchs on it at all. I'm going to take the crank and head to the machine shop tomorrow just to be on the safe side. I'm going to ask them to hot bath the head and check the crank. Will hot bathing the head destroy the stem seals ?
