CW Type R becomes a PY Type R
Hey guys...I was just wondering if anyone has this R. My friend had a CW 98 R and painted it PY. He had to sell it and I was just wondering if anyone on here owns that R now...i don't remember the number of the R but the inside of the car should still be CW. The car also had a Mugen wing. Anyone here with that R?
Can't blame someone for their taste....his car, his mods
But that doesn't make it any less idiotic simply because he could have sold the CW and bought a PY. That would have been cheaper than painting the car which also reduces it's value substantially.
In fact I'd say a PY 98 ITR is worthless IMO. The buyer is also a moron.

Worthless? You're saying that a 98 ITR is worth nothing if it's painted yellow?
Also most people would not even consider purchasing a 98 PY ITR (myself included), which brings value of the car down.
this car was originally CW. it was painted PY. It's located in The Netherlands and I saw it face to face with Ken (DutchITR)

I'd say it is worth so much less than a CW ITR that is in a sense worthless.

one would be remissed not to take resale value and appearance into account when purchasing ANY automobile...i would ignore resale value only if i planned on keeping the car for ever...which is not the case here

I see. I guess I had the wrong impression about why people bought ITRs. I was thinking it had something to do with performance value, not appearance or resale value. My mistake.

Taking it into account is one thing, making it the deciding factor is another.

So, I can now paint my PY 2000 ITR Championship White, to account for the loss of an original CW.
That's too bad. CW, IMO, is the best color on an ITR. But... if he plans on keeping the car for a long time, fine by me.
Just as long as it isn't painted one of those multi-changes-as-you-look-at-it stunna paint jobbies.

It's just a damn paint job...who give a f***. I know type R owners like to treasure there cars in all aspects of the car but please give me a break. It's just paint. It's not like that paint is any better than a GSR's paint, so it can't be changed? Come on now.
An R is a wonderful piece of technology and machinery but it's still just a car. It's still just another integra with a lil more juice.

Painting a CW ITR to PY is just as bad IMO.
Also I did buy the ITR for its color.
Well, there are very few CW's in the US, and we didn't get very many to begin with (very few).
So, resale/collectors-wise, this probably IS a big deal. The only reason I'd want a '98 is because it is CW. I'd only want a '97 because it IS the original US ITR. But, I can see how this would be a major money loser. Collectors and enthusiasts alike are very picky. I would pass on a '98 PY ITR without question if it were for sale.
All i'm saying is that it is HIS car, so he can what he wants. Does it make it a good idea financially? No.
1107 - Who was just thinking the other day if anyone had ever painted a '00 or '01 CW, or any other non-US itr color, like Milano Red.

But hey if it's any consolation I think it's just as bad as those ITRs that are JDM showcars. But let's not get started on those.
