question about gauge cluster
i have a 95 accord ex auto. is there a differnece between a ex and a lx gauge cluster? i know i need to make sure it has the abs light but is there any differnce between the 2?
Do you need the whole cluster or just a single component of it? The ones in my 93's are relatively easy to disassemble to swap out components. My wagon had corrosion on the printed circuit board, I was able to get a PCB out of sedan, but the speedos are different between wagon and sedan. I just installed the speedo and PCB from the sedan in the wagon cluster to maintain the odometer.
If your problem is the speedo and the odometer works fine, swap the printed circuit board off the back of the speedo head, it just pulls off the speedo head. That way you retain your original mileage. If the problem is a component, just swap the components (e.g., speedo, tach, gas gauge, etc.). Swapping a part of the cluster is your best bet, as you don't have to look for only one from an EX.
When I had a 95 EX before, I swapped the entire cluster from a LX. The LX cluster is basically the same as the EX, with the exception of the black plastic bezel, which you can swap (the LX bezel covers the ABS light) and maybe a missing ABS bulb. I only realized I could have just replaced the printed circuit board on the back of the speedo after the LX cluster was in and I disassemble my EX cluster after it was out.
