faster rack in eg
I know about the quaife dealeo for 300 bucks.
But, I seem to remember someone saying an integra rack will also fit.
What model integra and does it require any mod's to fit?

Now, is it just me, or does swapping out a subframe sound like a lot of work?
Are we talking the same subframe that the suspension pickup's are on?
i swapped the integra rack and found that the steering wasn't any quicker, however the steering radius sucked.
that's why it has a shorter ratio apparently, the same number of teeth on the pinon, but less on the rack.

Weird. I have noticed a definite and signficant difference in ratio (quickness) between the DC Integra and DX Civic racks. What Civic rack were you starting with? The Si rack was quicker, but also was PS to begin with.
yea, its 6 bolts to get the subframe out. its alot of work because theres a lot to take off/move out of the way. but i have done it (on the old ef) a bunch of times. its not hard.

Not right :p
I learned this the hard way over the winter.
I bought a Power Steering rack from an Integra and tried to install it on my Civic DX, it would not fit without swapping the subframe due to the indentation that the Integra Subframe has, and the Civic subframe did not have. I had to locate a subframe to swap the steering rack.

weird, i installed an integra rack on a 94 DX (ps original) civic and a 92 CX (non ps original), without changing the subframe.
Plus, I have a 94 integra RS subframe sitting right here, and it's exactly the same as my totalled 92 CX subframe side by side.
the only difference are the bracket that hold the rack in the non-ps civic aren't the same as the integra.
might be a Canadian thing...

Same info here, had to find out about the subframe the hard way. The d-bracket that holds the rack to the subframe is bigger for PS than non-ps, so the bracket will not bolt up properly to a non-ps subframe.
You will also need the knuckle that connects the spline shaft on the rack to the steering column.

I started with a power steering civic rack (ie: si)
sorry to pull up my old post...
I've been trying to find out if the quaife steering rack kit comes with new bushings or not (mine are shot and need replacing), as this would be a big motivator to get the kit.
I cannot find a U.S. quaife, only a UK one, and on that site there is not mention of this kit.
Anybody?

So manual subframes are identical between eg/dc2, and ps subframes are identical between eg/dc2, but manual/ps are not the same.
I believe the coupler/joint between the actual steering column and steering rack are different between eg/dc2.
