Default engine wont start,91 hatch HELP PLEASE(video added)

this is my brothers hatch.

the dizzy rotor was super loose.
so we bought a new dizzy.
now it wont start
not even crank.

at first we thought it was the major oil leak so we replaced valve cover gasket and no leaks.
but still wont start.
i think we porbably messed the timing belt a bit after we did the valve cover gasket.

no crank at all but i here the fuel pump click.
we bought new spark plugs and wires we got spark!
no crank nothing...

IF THIS MATTERS THEIR IS A NEW ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY.

UPDATE HERES A VIDEO

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq_N5TkY544

sorry you cant see anything i got home at 6 and decided it'd be best i get the sound on video to desribe better!
so please bare with me.

in the video i basically try to start the car 5 times.
no crank the belts move but stop.
could it be the starter?
the timing?
please help really need my red beauty zoreli to run.
i named her zoreli shes my first car!

thanks and very appreciated.

well if its not even cranking then either the starter has pooped out, or the ignition switch is toast. have a friend hold the key in the crank position while you probe the 12v signal wire at the starter with a test light or multimeter. if it lights up, you know the starter solenoid is bad. if it doesn't light up then either there is a break in the wire or the ignition switch is bad and is not sending voltage to the starter.

here's how to test the ignition switch

Check the basics first. Changing a valve cover gasket and distributor shouldn't cause a no crank problem. Check for loose connections that you may have disturbed. Look at the battery terminals, starter terminals and the ground cable that goes from the front of the car to the valve cover. Ground cable should go to one of the valve cover nuts and then to the valve cover itself. If you forgot to put this cable on and that is what's preventing it from starting then you also have another problem. There should be a large ground cable that hooks to the trans, it may be loose, broken or missing. Good luck!

if it has spark then you can rule out the dizzy is the problem. Do you have any Cel did you try and start it with starter fluid? Are you sure its getting gas? make sure you have enough gasoline in it sounds stupid but sometimes it happens.

sounds like it's cranking over but not firing. I had the same problem with one of mine and it was main fuel relay under the dash. $60 at autozone, took 5 min to put in, fired right up.

I'm having a similar issue and i have changed everything but my distributer, however I think mine is the distributer. Have checked to see if you are getting gas and spark?

you can try the one from your other civic, it should work. I wasn't really sure either, so I bought it and figured if it wasn't it, I would just return it.

If it's cranking over, then I say you got the wrong firing order. Check the spark plug wires are in the right spot. Or take the cap off and put the engine at TDC and see if the rotor is pointing at number 1. If you haven't checked this then it's probably why. Also just make sure the battery is charged. I can't get my computer to play the sound of your car, so I don't know if it's cranking over or not. Good luck.

So what did you take out to replace the dizzy? Get a list and check everything you touched. It ran before, right?

yup.
when it shut down,
we thought it was because our massive oil leak coming from the valve cover gasket.
so we replaced valve cover gasket and seals.
then heard massive knocking from the dizzy open it up and the dizzy cap and rotor was to hell the small piece we screw the rotor in was super loose so we replaced dizzy and wires and plugs.
then tried to start her and no crank after that.

so far we changed
MFR
VC gasket and seals
plugs and wires
dizzy

here are some pics of my cam can you tell if its off timed or not by this
also my firing order.

hope they help!

if the notch on the cam gear is pointing up while the mark on the crank pulley is also top dead center, the timing is correct

it doesnt crank? does the starter kick over?

If your getting spark and fuel and the timing and firing order is correct, your left with compression problems.

i highly doubt that tho since it was running before u replaced parts.

If the starter doesn't even crank over, how do you know it has spark and fuel? If you haven't already, clean all the grounds on the battery cable and engine. When you try to crank it over have the headlights on. If they dim alot or even almost off, as you try to start it you got battery, or cable problems. Try to have a friend jump it with the negitive on your engine somwhere, if it works then you know you need to check the cables and voltage. If they stay the same or dim a little then you check your starter fuses and connection at starter. There is a Black and White wire that goes to the starter it easily gets bumped when you replace the dizzy. Make sure it's connected and has power when you turn the key on. Firing order is right by the way.
