Default Rust issues?

anyone have any kind of rust issues with their RSX? specifically model year 2002? some of you might have seen that im looking into a 2002 type s, i havent seen the car yet, but i am told there is a minor rust area on the vehicle, but it would be repaired if i wanted to purchase it...i didnt think honda/acura had many rust issued besides the early 90's civic/accord...any input appreciated

What area are you or the car from? It's a common issue if you are in an area that uses salt during the winter months.

I'm not sure if the "newer" Hondas have the same rear-quarter panel rust issues as the 90-00 Hondas. But with any climate that has inclement weather, you can pretty much expect rust.

Be on the lookout for body damage or repairs, if it's rusting in an uncommon place.

We purchased a Honda CRV 2010 last december (only 4 months ago). Our car with less than 2 thousand miles on it has rusted brakes and many other parts. Dealor has agreed to replace brakes, but not the many other parts on the car that are rusted. We have a lot of hassles ahead of us under the lemon law. I would not recommend buying a Honda 2010, no matter what model.

I live in MI and my 2002 RSX has two tiny rust spots (about the size of a pencil eraser) on the roof and a little rust on the rear quarter. Any car will rust if you live in an area with salt... Also if the person is fixing the rust make sure its done right using ZR1 rust proofing because the rust will come right back if not fixed properly.

Whatever. Did you join just to bash Hondas? And you aren't the guy with the spec of rust on the CRV muffler that went to the dealer b!tching about it, were you?

You replied to a post from 2 months ago to complain about a car that doesn't belong in this forum. Way to go.

what many other parts??? and I'm pretty sure that the rust(wear & tear) are NOT covered by Lemon Law!!! Sounds sorta like someone complaining about tire wearing out tread after driving on it for some time... If the rust problem is that serious to the point it causes you that much of hassle, shouldn't you have spotted them prior to purchasing your vehicle???

I've never seen a rusted RSX/EP in Green Bay yet and they salt the roads white. That's why my EP is stored in the winter.

Rotors, hubs etc will rust even on a brand new car if you live in an area that has to salt the roads in winter... If it snows, they will salt. Wash your CRV, maybe go to a wash that has underbody flush or find a hobby shop that has a lift and steam cleaner. Or move to SoCal...

Not sure what sort of rust you're seeing on the alternator or power steering pump or trans since these have aluminum housings. I've only been building/working on cars for 11 years now so maybe I missed something.. Aluminum will corrode but rust? Please explain and maybe post pics.

There should be no way to have that much rust on a car.
You may want to use naval jelly or POR15 on it.
