Default trunk leakage on Del Sol

I just bought a Del Sol a couple days ago, and I have found that the trunk leaks somewhat and that during a rain storm, the trunk area can get somewhat wet. The problem is that some of this water trickles through the carpet and into the area where the spare tire is kept and the area surrounding it. The thing I am worried about is rust.

Will this cause rusting, even if I do live in FL? What if I wipe down the area and get it dry? Would that prevent any rust getting there? I mean, there are two little spots that I can see already that are getting some rust, or starting to rust, but it appears as if it hasn't ate into the metal yet.

Can these spots be repaired like other panels, even though it is in the wheel well? Or am I just SOL, cuz I really do not want to have a car that is going to rust.

The same thing was happening to my 96 dx coupe. It was getting in from a small hole behind the passenger side tail light. As for rust mine leaked for about 6 months before i found where it was coming for and i havent had any.

but, a small amount of rust in the spare wheel well wouldn't be irreparable would it? I mean, a body shop COULD fix it if need be right?

Well, I am just wondering if it is going to be able to be repaired if need be. I plan on doing the fix thing from teamdelsol.com when I get a chance, but right now the site isn't working.

Sorry in advance for the short reply - the problem may be with one of the four small plastic insert pieces in the roof area (this could be what's on the teamdelsol.com website)......if so, its an easy fix.

HTH!!

Hopefully, I am just hoping that the three or four screw size orange spots can be fixed.

They can right? They're not even depressed from the rest of the metal.
