Default s2000 steering wheel into ek

I bought an ap1 s2k steering wheel and airbag for 175.00 it looks great, but the bad news is when i went to take the airbag out the inflator isn't there(the airbag was never deployed), so im guessing it was removed for whatever reason. So my question is where can i find just the inflator, or can i even buy one by itself, is there another vehicle that has the same mechanism?

nope...your screwed....my guess is you bought it from some overseas Jap company.....

they are not allowed by law to import the airbag, it is considered an explosive....

your only way to get one without spending crazy amounts of money on a new one would be to find a wheel at a junk/salvage yard and put it in ( if possible )

also if you do go looking for it, do some reasearch, some bags have 1 stage deployment, and others have 2 stage deployment, the connections are different i believe and so are the variables in the computer....

Well ive been to several junk yards and all the rsx's and insights had deployed airbags, if its a dual stage airbag ill just use the high speed charge only, but the the problem seems to be that you cannot find the drivers side inflator anywhere, I searched the web and nothing wtf.

Just get a good seat and racing harness. Airbags even with regular seat belts arent that much more effective. The percentage of lives saved wearing a seatbelt in a crash was 65%. The percentage with the seatbelt and airbag deploying was 68%. 3% of saving lives but now whats the percentage of people screwed up the rest of their lives from the airbag?

Whats the percentage of people screwed up the rest of their lives from hitting a hard steering wheel during a accident?

I know my airbag saved me from a broken nose and jaw when I had my accident.

Not sure but if your wearing a seatbelt I don't understand how you hit the steering wheel. I know they lock and slowly release. I wrecked my car and it was like slow motion but crazy fast at the same time locked into the seat, hands on the wheel just hitting poles. I didnt move at all in the seat because the belt was locked.

guess it depends on certain factors.....i would of hit the steering wheel if it hadn't been for the airbag. I was wearing my seatbelt properly. I had the same feeling, it was slo-mo but crazy fast at the same time.....it was not cool.

People who get rid of their airbag wheel for a racing wheel on the street are asking to die. plain and simple. The goal of safety devices in a car is to slow deceleration of the body and especially the brain. So the seatbelt locks just after impact allowing the body a small amount of forward movement, then is slowed more by the airbag. Also using 4 or 5 pt harness is also dangerous because there is not enough space for the head to move to the side in case of a roll or roof crush situation. Dont mess with the safety systems. Manufacturers spend millions developing this stuff to save people.

roll cages in street cars are also dangerous unless you wear a hlmet which i elieve is illegal. Basically theres comes a point where it is not safe and impossible to have a street legal race car.
