Default B18C1 vs B16A HP ?

So my friends and i are in an argument about which one makes more HORSEPOWER stock vs stock, ive tried searching but no real proof other then the common both make 170hp etc, but i feel thats a misconception. I dont understand how the b16a having slightly more compression, but 200cc's LESS displacement, LESS stroke, smaller cams etc. with both having the same redline, but somehow putting down the same "numbers" to the wheels. I also know horsepower is a measure of torque times rpms. but I cant seem to find any B16a stock dyno graphs but found plenty of GSR ones. Inputs please with valid points, dyno graphs, videos, write-ups etc. please

major difference is going to be torque.... B16a has around 110 tq if i remember right while the GSR being the 1.8 has around 134 tq... A B16a honest feels like a D series unless taken into the higher rpms.... this is an easy question to find the answer to, just do a little more research..

thanks for the input guys, i even did the calculations using this site

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question622.htm

and dont understand how everyone rates the B16a as having 170 to the crank

Does anyone have a stock b16a dyno? to see how much they put down to the wheels

Ok, well the 2nd gen B16 has higher compression so yes, it makes the same hp rating as the larger and lower compression B18C1......BUT

The B18C has that extra 20 ft lbs torque, and the torque rating is not as peaky as a B16A. Basically, the B18C makes 170hp for longer across the rpm range, and a hell of a lot more torque all across the rpm range----BIG Difference!

well how come the difference between a first gen b16a and a 2nd gen b16a compression wise changes from 10.2 to 10.4 and that makes a 10hp difference

But between a Usdm GSR and a JDM GSR the compression changes from 10.0 to 10.6 and still has only a 10hp improvement

a .4 difference should make that big a difference to put a b16a into the same ball park as a B18C1 horsepower wise

Torque is a core to produccin HP so how can a motor with almost the same amount of torque as a D-series, compete with a motor with way more torque without greatly improving redline, aka compression, cams etc

You have some things wrong there. Ok, B16A usdm and 1st gen jdm = 160hp
The 2nd gen gets 10hp from:
- .2 higher compression
- higher octane fuel in Japan gives the higher hp number too

Now, the B18C1 and jdm B18C (gsr)
usdm is 170hp with a compression ratio of 10.0:1
jdm B18C (called SiR-G in Japan) has 178hp and a compression ratio of 10.6:1

Those numbers look on par to me!

As for ITR-
usdm B18C5 195hp and 10.6:1 compression
jdm B18C (R) 200hp and 11.0:1 ompression 96-98 spec
jdm B18C (R) 210hp and 11.0:1 compression 99-01 spec- better cams and header
