What's wrong with the tach on your cluster?

get an Si cluster from the same year and avoid looking like a ricer with a big *** tach plopped up on your dash.

hey man i have a 90-91 si cluster with the tach on it. works just fine i just swapped for a jdm sir cluster.

the si cluster will plug right in to your stuff. i have it all boxed up and ready to ship. let me know. there is a pic of it in my for sale thread or in the for sale thread in the ef forum. that would look so much cleaner than a huge monster tach on your dash.

Yeah I was thinking about that, but that's a lot of work to do and wiring too... Plus I wanna keep my mileage on the same cluster.

Si clusters aren't cheap either and I'm on a budget right now that's tight

you could just do a cluster swap. there's TONS of them on HT.

I did the aftermarket on my 91 DX hatch. I used the 8k rpm Autometer Autogauge. set me back ~ $40 on eBay
For the wiring I just T spliced onto the wires from the wire connector behind the gauge cluster. Getting it off takes like 16 screws, but it beats running wires through your firewall.
Anyways, the only tricky part is the lighting, on my tach it goes out when I use the brights. I forgot to test that before putting it all back together. I believe there's another wire you can use that works all the time. Or ya might need to splice into 2 wires. I'm not 100% sure on that part, haven't had time to take my dash apart again.

Here's a pic

a junkyard cluster is cheaper than a goofy tach. Plugs right in if it's from the same year car. But, if you want to be a ricer, knock yourself out.

I'm still considering a cluster swap but I want to keep my mileage, and I like having it on the right, closer to the center.
I guess it's a little "rice" but it's not RICE like a pillar cluster lol
I wrapped the wires, so it looks pretty clean, even from the back.

First of all, do you really need a tach? what's under the hood? if it's a stock d15b2, you deserve a bitchslap. there is no reason you need to rev that thing out that much

look, this is a really easy upgrade! Go to the junk yard, find your style cluster...

88-89 square style or 90-91 round style

Buy it for $20. If the mileage is out, you can take it apart easily to match your existing mileage. Install time is about 10 mins flat!

Here is a 91 Si cluster that i paid $20 for to give you an idea

We already helped you out. Told you to get a cluster with a tach and plug it in. But you claim to be so concerned with the actual miles of the old *** car you drive and you're using it as an excuse to rice out the car. I could care less, really. It's your car and I'm just busting your ***** for fun because if you had half of an IQ point, you would have searched for your answer and would have found it already.

Oh noes! I need a tach to let me know when I'm reaching 6500 mad tyte 80 hp rPMzz!

Have a good night son

Eventually, I'll probably go that route. I hear altering the mileage is a serious pain in the A$$.

not to these guys. an 8" tach seems so 2000 but somehow people seem to bring it back from the dead. I thought jdm/edm/ldn/msn/nom etc clusters were in?

besides, ebay tachs are worth 1/4 of what u pay for it compared to a genuine honda cluster...go ahead ignore all the good advice an get a pointless tach since u dnt know how to change gears by ear and "need one" so bad

there is nothing wrong with a tach. i have one in my car and it gets the job done. noone in here even answered his question. he wants a tach, let him have his tach.

im not positive, but green would be dizzy, red is power, black ground and white is accessories.

my green is at the dizzy, black is grounded on a chassis that i also sanded down for better connection, red is at cigarette lighter and white is at my headlights so when my lights are on, its on.

i use my tach for 8200 plus my cars a DX and doesnt have a tach. i had the tach lying around and used it. doesnt have a shiftlight cause that is being used as my vtec controller for last 6 years and i have no problems with it.

everyone.

Thank you n.n

And i know everybody thinks im dumb, but look i really just want one. Their great to have and i need it for the mechanics. I just TOTALLY took my engine apart and axles off also the tranny is down. I'm doing a total "tune up". the cars right side axle has been shot form what i hear 700 miles plus...

The prevoius owner didnt take car of this car. the valve cover has 4 screws. i took 3 screws apart with my hand one needed 1 quarter of a turn to loosen up... The engine is all full of oil and slim... I got work cut out for me...
