Fuse Panel Power
Hi all,
Lots of invaluable information here and I am almost ready to go ahead with my installation of an aftermarket all-in-one celining mount dvd system. It is ordered and on its way.
The only thing left is clarifying how to obtain power correctly for the unit. I plan to route all the power wires down to the fuse panel on either the passenger or driver side and use a fuse adapter (ie. add-a-circuit) to do a clean connect. Don't want to splice into the factory wiring.
There are four wires that come off the dvd unit:
Blue (Ground)
Red (ACC)
Yellow (B+)
Black (Ground)
Grounds are taken care of it is the red and yellow I need to address.
There are 2 built-in dome lights in the unit so my assumption is that if I wanted them operational (I don't care if they work or not) I would need to attach the yellow wire to a switched wire such as one of the dome light wires that is energized when a door is opened.
For the red wire I can use the piggyback fuse adapter to power the unit itself.
I am only concerned about powering the unit properly and only when the ignition is turned on so I believe I can just leave the yellow wire disconnected.
I have attached 2 diagrams. Not sure which wiring will be present as there are 2 versions of the model I ordered.
Any comments experiences would be much appreciated.
