Default 1952 Ford Customline. Hotrod/ cruiser build.

My father and I are starting a new build. Our 1952 Ford Customline. Car came with a ford Flat head. My father has had the car since before I was born, but in the last few years the car started to fall apart. So I told him I'm going to help build it whether he wants me to or not, and just dove head first into another project car. This project will take a long time since we have our other cars to take care of.

I love the 50's jet style front end.

4 door sedan, The car was based off the police package. didn't come with a radio.

Overdrive.

Has three on the tree shifter.

Interior has seen better days.

YAY asbestos.

The motor I'd like to use The ford flat head v8. The sound is amazing if it ever fires again.

Then the motors we might use.
Caddillac 352 with 2 4 barrel carbs.

Or an oldsmobile j2 with 3 2 barrel carbs

That's all I have for right now. Car doesn't run. And needs brakes.

Car looks to be in pretty good shape. Was it always an nj car? Might have some hidden rust if it was. GOod luck and keep us updated

Wow, what a great collection of motors. I would love to have that flathead sitting in my living room.

Found out why it isn't starting. The starter terminal is messed up and the wire to it.

Should be able to get her running tomorrow.
A couple other pics I took.

Spot lights. These never worked, but I'm going to make sure they do. I love them

And a close up of the gauges. only 98,000 miles on it.

Next time I have the garage open I'll do it. (have to move cars out of the way)
We have a space 454 for my dads race car, a Lincoln flathead. An old 400 Sbc that I wanted to use(made over 400 hp) and mix of different small blocks and my d-series motors.

Got the old ford running today.

Ran without a header on the car.
Still need to get new brakes on the car and it'll be road ready.

Got a little more done on the ford today.
Started by getting the heater back into the car. and a couple of relays.

A lot of the wiring on the car has been fried, so we straighted it out and got all the lights working again.

And the best part of the day was getting the spot lights for it. I like them so much I may just put them on my civic instead

Tomorrow I'm going to start cleaning off some of the chrome. I'm still looking for the rocker panels for the car which is becoming very hard to find.

Got it back on the road again. Miss fires a lot(sounds like a machine gun going off) so next is new plugs.

Got the original side skirts back on.

Installed the real working spot lights. I'm in love with them.

Started to work on the interior. I'm going to install leather door panels. Got the panels stripped.

Yes I'm keeping the flat head. It's becoming rare and the sound is unlike any other motor. We're going to add a few thing ad try to get it a little faster. With some work it should be as fast as a stock eg civic. I'm looking for a new clutch and tach for it.

Been slow for updates for the ford. Between trying to build my civic, trying to buy a new daily, and waiting for a day off to work on it again it's taking for ever.

Took the old girl out to her first show in years. My father found that using brillo pads on the chrome really shines it up pretty well........until the next rain at least

Have the door panels getting made right now using black leather. Should be in in a week or two. Also Found a spray booth I can use for free, so the car will be getting a new coat of black.

Use scotchbrite on all the stainless and it'll clean up all the pitting and shine it right up. Looks great so far. I've got a 50 I'd like to get a start on some time soon

Sweet build. You dont see too many 4-door rods, but I love 'em.

I love the big chrome on the old cars. You going to keep it pretty much stock looking or are you planning on doing any chopping?
