Default Effects of a balance shaft removal, h/f series

What are the advantages and disadvantages of removing the shaft?
its a f2b eg swap, so the extra space is counted, what else???

yeah, when swapping space is the major advantage.

otherwise.. less rotational mass, better oil supply with complete "delete kit" install, about 9 lbs. less engine mass..

you'll feel it (the vibration) especially with stiffer motor mounts. some rumor that it leads to premature main bearing failure and oil pump failure... but i haven't seen any substantial, diffinitive evidence.

NOTE: i've made the assumption that you don't have a problem dissassembling the motor and uninstalling the balance system. for anyone without the skills will need to invest some money to have this done professionally. likewise, it would be extra hassle for a simple "drop-in" swap if there were no plans to open up the motor.

...a little more specific. there are three "cogs" in the B/S system, two gears in the rear housing and a pulley for the accessory belts. tb shield? do you mean the black plastic cover? i'm not reusing that personally.

check out the link to the F2D project in my sig. B/S kit install should be on the first page.

most guys do.

i don't like the idea of leaving it open to road debris though so i've been working on a custom, low-profile cover that will just cover the T-belt path similar to the D-series.
