i was wondering if its normal for ep3 to sound loud especially when its cold. it sounds like the a/c is on or the fan. any input would be great

 

up your oil weight...the lower weights = more noise...I run 10w-30 sys....

 

stock motor mount or aftermarket ones? aftermarket ones tend to rattle more than stock ones, although not too much...

 

Sounding loud is a pretty broad description. Is there a sound in particular that stands out? Or is it just your fan? Most cars are usually louder when they are warming up due to the idle being higher etc.

 

its pretty loud, it sounds like the fan is on or the a/c but their not on. i never really noticed until a couple of people started telling me that my car sounds loud. the car is stock, the car runs great nothing wrong with it. its just too loud. i had eg hf hatchies they didnt sound as loud as this one even with motor swaps and turbo. i never had a k motor. doesnt shake or bibrate its just loud

 

sounds like when they install a radio in a car and they dont install it right and everytime u turn the radio on u could hear the motor. im going to change the spark plugs and wires and put thicker oil like mustclime said. hoping that works. how many of u guys were eg fans before buying ep3.

 

I've prolly had over 20 EG's lol. When I think about it my EP is a lot louder than any other civic I've had.

 

I just don't think you are used to the 2.0 liter DOHC POWER! You got a whole .5 to .4 liters more under the hood. That is a lot to handle! Ha ha.

I don't really notice mine being any loud. Do you have anything aftermarket done to the car? Maybe a hole in the firewall where some cables were run for a stereo?

 

my ls motor is loud as **** when it's cold...i just let it warm up and it goes away

 

motor is bonestock

 

Those noisy K-series injectors scared me at first, I thougt it is was something in the head i screwed up when i first got my car. tick tick tick.lol

 

Agreed out of all my civic my EP in stock form is the loudest
