Default Rods / Bearings / HELP!!!!!

I have a B18b1 with weisco pistons and Eagle rods. I bought ACL bearings and was told to torque the eagle rods to 43 flbs. when i do this i can barly spin the crank with a 2foot breaker bar... obviously its too tight. they are standard size ACL bearings. I hear that Eagle rods are tighter then OEM rods. What size bearing do i need for this to work? i dont think 43flbs is to much so im guessing its just the bearings.

has anyone else had this problem with Eagle rods and ACL bearings? What do we do?

Im gonna call my machine shop tomorrow and probably end up taking it in there..but was hoping to do all the work myself, I am a certified tech..just not a pro engine builder.

Measure the clearance. 43 lb*ft of torque should be specified with a lubricant weight, whether it be ARP moly, 30W oil, etc.

Also, what's the breakaway torque on the crankshaft by itself? You should be able to spin the crank at the snout by hand.

i used the ARP moly. and the break away torque when the rods are torqued down id say is over 80+ which is just nuts. i just have a basic micrometer so im thinking this might be outta my ablitys to do at this point

Was everything measured/clearances checked before choosing the bearing sizes? The crank should definitely spin freely.

eagle rods should be torqued to these specs..

. it depends on the bolts but mine were 28

yeah, if you used a 3/8ths socket to torque the head, you have 5/16th rod bolts. The torque spec for these is 28 ft/lbs, not 40 ft/lbs.
