crx 90 swap
even tho im into ludes way more then civic/crx, my dad is buying me a 90 crx and having me swap the engine....he wants me to do this cuz im interested in being a technician and hey its a free car! so wut engine is the most newbiest in swaping but with some power and on the lower price...thanks
b16, cheap and I think it's easy> but for your first swap I would stay with a D series motor but you would be happier with a b16 or go with a b18c1 or 5 and you will change your mind completely about the CRX
My CRX will get my D16 after I do my swap in my hatch, I want to convert to OBD1 then when I want to but in a B18c I can plug and play with a P28 ECU. at least I hope that will work.
I would stick with the zc. 1.6 no tec from japan. Came in the civic/crx si's. cheap, parts are plentiful, and they offer a reasonable amount of power. Not to mention good for a fair amount of boost. b16 can get pretty expensive if you ask me,especially for a kid. keep it simple.peace. Ryan

IMO, you should go with the B18C5, if you can afford it...
This engine is probably the most Potent powerhouse available to the CRX (Short of a full out B20 frank monster), assuming of course that you have the necesary ammount of $ to purchase it.
Installations precedures are pretty well documented, and there is a large ammount of aftermarket parts available for this engine.
The only downside to this engine would be the price, at ~$6k for a swap kit w/o Mounts, this is not exactly a budget swap candidate. It also crowds the engine bay, though it will fit, with a shoehorn
. The power is well worth it though.
Just my $.02

http://www.hondamotorsonline.com has b18c5 motors for $4800 plus shipping...
if money isn't a problem... definitely go for the type-r motor... you'll have some fun with that!
$4800??? Hook me up!
Hondamotorsonline.com was the one that carries it, right? Anyone seen a low price on a B16A swap? My best is $1499. +Shipping (Engine, Trans, Axles, Ecu included). If you've seen better, let me know!
