Default Name brand or off brand

I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to on previous threads. Which is better, name brand audio electronics or off brand? The reason for my question is that I'm looking to replace my subwoofer in my car and I want to get a good replacement and not something of equal value or worse. This is what I have:

JC Power M800D
Kicker 12" CVR 2 ohm DVC wired to 4 ohms

I want to get a good 4 ohm DVC but I don't want to spend gobs of money either. So my question is would I be better going with Kicker on this 4 ohm DVC or should I choose a different and perhaps better brand for less?

It really depends on what off brand. You get what you pay for.

I am looking to spend no more that 100 dollars seeing that is as much as I can expect to get from my current one, which is still in good condition.

think of it this way...if its cheap to sell, it was even cheaper to build. That doesnt necessarily mean off brand is crap tho. Ive seen some custom garage made subwoofers that can handle thousands of watts. just do your research now. figure out what capabilities you want and look for speakers that can handle it

You could look into the infinity. Or memphis, or RE, or MB quart, or boston acoustics.
There is no way in hell you'll get $100 for your sub.

From all the setups i've had..when it comes to subwoofers

internet direct brands>mainstream

digital designs, fi car audio, sundown, sound solutions audio, mmats, audioque, image dynamics, incriminator audio..

these subs will crap all over subs from brands like rockford, kicker, alpine, jl etc etc

I want something that won't warp or crack when I push the amp to the max. I listen to a lot of rock, rap, dance, anything that'll really pound and shake the car when I turn it up. I heard Diamond Audio is a reliable brand, but I really don't know anything when it comes to brands and what not. I just know how to hook it up and troubleshoot it when it doesn't work. So, basically, I'm taking votes right now.

that jc power amp probably isn't doing anywhere near rated power.
