Default 1997 Accord SE Auto F22B2 Won't Start

hi guys
I replaced the following items:

oil pan gasket
cylinder head gasket
distributor o-ring
spark plugs

now it won't start. The instrument/interior lights turn on ok. When I turn ignition it doesn't crank or click. All I hear is a buzzing/humming sound from engine compartment. The lights (interior/headlights) don't dim when trying to start. I tried jumping as well, didn't work. Multimeter on battery shows 12V.

I tried to start while knocking the starter, distributor, and main relay under the dash, but nothing happens (only buzzing). Even inspected main relay for bad solder joints, looks good. Checked all fuses: ECU, starter relay, battery fuse looks good.

took the starter to schucks, had them tested and was OK. i replaced the battery. i'm suspecting it's the ignition coil, possibly ICM??
does anyone know the likely cause for "no crank, no click" symptoms?
also checked for spark and got nothing.

any help is appreciated thanks!!!

You could always take the starter off and take it to a local auto store that tests them. That seems like the next probable solution considering it is not cranking at all.

FYI, the main relay would make the car not fire, just continuously crank. But you were right to check the starter relay right under the dash. I had a one month span back in november when a few different times my starter relay was getting stuck and I would hear nothing, no clicking or cranking, I tapped it a few times and no problems since.

Coil or ignitor will cause a no-spark condition but will not cause a no-crank condition.

How did you check for spark if you cannot get the engine to crank?

No-crank with working dash lights in an automatic car is usually related to these items:
- battery
- starter motor
- ignition switch contact assembly
- A/T shifter position sensor
- ground connections

In addition, the '97 SE trim had a factory security system which was associated with wiring for the power door lock system, but I believe that disabling this system will still allow the car to crank but not run.

You don't have any sort of aftermarket security system installed do you?
