Icon6 b16a2 and b16a1 .. a newb question

this is a newb question .. so be easy on my

the b16a1 has a obd1 harness (if im correct)

so does that make the b16a2 obd2?

and if that is, is it possible to covnvert the b16a2 to a obd1 harness and if so what do you have to modify?

Search homie.

I got this off google.

the b16A1 came from the civic 1.6/VTi in europe. But is has the same power rating as the JDM first gen B16A. (In japan, there was never a B16A1, B16A2, etc rating, just B16A). The B16A2 is USDM from the Del Sol Vtec. The B16A3 is USDM Si. Both are rated at 160hp. The B16A3 is ODBII, the B16A2 is ODBI (unless there was a 97 Del SOl Vtec, that B16A2 would be OBDII if they made one). The first gen JDM B16A was rated at 158hp and was non-ODB, the second gen JDM B16A was rated at 168hp, and was ODB-I. The JDM 3rd gen B16A was ODB-II, same hp as 2nd gen. The reason for the power bump of 10hp in the 2nd and 3rd gen JDM B16A vs the JDM 1st gen B16A (and the USDM B16A2 & A3, the european B16A1) is that it has a 10.4:1 cr vs the 1st gen's 10.2:1. Also, the 1st gen JDM and the european B16A1 had a cable tranny. All others had a hydro tran

^^^ Wow man, you are wrong, and google sucks for giving you that info...

B16a3 = USDM 94-95 Del Sol Vtec/ OBD-1

B16a2 = USDM 99-00 Civic SI/ OBD-2

B16A2 started life as an OBD2 engine in either a 96-97 Del Sol VTEC.

You need to re-read your original post...

To get back to the question. It is possible to update any engine to obd1 or back date it to obd1 by just knowing what sensors to change. Like fuel injectors you have to make sure you are running a obd1 dissy you can run a obd2 but you would have to wire in the crank angle sensor to the wiring harness. The obd2 engine has a intake air temp in the intake piping, but the obd0 and obd1 has it in the intake manifold. You can fix this by putting a obd0 or obd1 intake manifold on the engine, drilling a hole in the intake manifold to put it in the manifold, or just put it back in the piping. The thermoswitch will need to be changed That depends on the year of the engine.
