Icon2 -Clean 1991 Civic Dx: Motor Swap Q's & Others

recent purchased a fairly clean unmolested 91 Ef for $1100. d15b1/4 speed.
I owned 1 of these cars before that had a ZC DOHC swap in it. but it was a Si and I was not the one who swapped it nor have I ever swapped a motor before. Ide like to change this car to a 5 Speed Si transmission which I know will be fairly easy to do. But my Question is what is the easiest and cheapest D-Series (VTEC) motor to directly swap in. No fuss-No Hassle-1 Day Direct Bolt In. Please Help, Im old to the game but new at the same time ! Any help would be appreciated.
Any wheres a good place to find some Fat Fives, gotta have em!
Si gauge cluster a direct swap ?
How do I post pics up of the build and is it rare at all that this car was man. by Honda of Canada not America. Odd or Rare.

Thanks Guys.

SI cluster is plug is as long as it matches your generation, 88/89 or 90/91.

5 speed swaps are super easy.

Whatever engine you buy you will have to do MPFI and VTEC wiring. I would suggest going OBD1.

So after going from dpfi to mpfi. what motor would be reccomended after doing the swap.
also the guy I bought the car from claims that the car which is a d15b2 engine has a '97 cam and cam gear in it. Could that be possible, and if it is is the only thing I need to do is swap to mpfi to see the acceleration difference. the d15b2 is slow as hell and cannot accelerate in traffic fast enough for me.

would it be reccomended to just swap in a d16 from a 1991 civic si and civic si 5 speed transmission. with MPFI.
or can i swap in si 5 speed tranny and a SOHC VTEC motor, if so which one is easier, cheaper, or more reliable.

Just remember that if you put in a five speed trans to use the std (4speed) cv shafts. The hub on the std is smaller then what is on the dx ex si models.

i would do either a d16z6 and run it OBD1. prolly the easiest SOHC VTEC d series to put in a ef.

^what?

and you have all the answers to what d series motor will go in with the less work. no matter what you have to go DPFI to MPFI if you want a motor to be able to go on the freeway.

Yeah, whats up with the hesitation with the dpfi. and my car is a standard civic not a dx. how reliable are the stock b15b2 motors, i might just go MPFI on it until it blows then replace with d16 vtec motor ?
