Ignition club?
I have done my search but found nothing on this topic. Everytime i hear of someone getting their car stolen (and got it back/found on side of road) the ignition is always ****ed up. Does anyone know of a lock for it and if so how effective are they and where can i get one?
I have been doing auto security for a long time and I have never seen anything commercially available, unlike a "club" that will fit any steering wheel, an ign. switch "lock" would have to be specific to a particular make and model of car.
Some years back we did a fleet of late 80s Chev pick-ups, all the trucks where equipped with a hinged clam shell "wrap", it clamped over the steering column covering the ign. switch, locked in place with 2 Master padlocks, it also kept the shifter from being moved out of park, it was heavy, 3/16" cold rolled steal, if I remember.
Turned out they where custom made for the fleet, we just installed passive kill switches and then later alarms, when they found that it did not prevent crooks from breaking in and trying to steal the trucks anyway, [they removed the steering wheel and pulled the "wrap" off.
Hopefully you are considering something like this just to prevent damage and not as protection from theft, a properly installed basic alarm will be more effective, even just a hidden kill switch. 94
