Default LSx v8 swap?

Before you start bashing me or turning this into a anti v8 or "why not just turbo it?" thread, I just wanted to see if it has been done before. I having 400-500lbs of tq and 400-500whp from 3-6,000rpms would be fun in a lightweight FR setup.

I was wondering if you S2k owners have run into any s2000 that had a v8 swap. On the road or just on the internet. I've seen the 2JZ done before.

I know that it's easy to do in a miata & rx7.... I would imagine it even being easier the the much larger s2000 engine bay.

It has been done, and its really common in E36 M3's. The issue in the S2k is moving it far enough back to maintain weight balance. If I remember right the firewall has to be modified to keep the engine behind the front wheels, it results in the shifter being an extra 5-7" back. It's a great idea but it doesn't work so well in the S2k.

Check out http://www.vorshlag.com/ they make a great kit for the E36 BMWs.

I've also read threads with a corvette engine. Dunno which one, don't know anything about corvettes. A lot of work involved tho. I believe it was on s2ki

I've never understood the point in buying an import and then doing a domestic swap. I mean...buy a domestic and swap it in. Otherwise get original and do a lesser known swap from another import.

Maybe he wants to turbo the V8. Im sure you cant have a 1400 hp with a turbo F22.

I'm 100% certain there isn't a single piece of the drivetrain you wouldn't have to replace by that point.

The car wouldn't even be an S2000 anymore, really.

there are about 6 LSx swapped s2000's.......two of them here in memphis......along with my Civette and wrx....both one-offs.....dont attempt this swap if you dont know what you are doing.....you will be modifying the subframe, firewall, front frame crossbar, beefier rear end.....

Ethan's s2000 will be the first full wire tucked and shaved 6.0 swapped s2000 on work wheels.....so clean!!!!!
