Going back to domestic...sell the R, sell the hatch?
Okay, flame away...but some of you might remember that I was born and raised on domestics. Ever since I could walk and talk, all I knew was Chevy muscle. My dad has been drag racing for YEARS and YEARS. He helped build the drag strip here in the early 60's.
Anyway, this situation came up and I might be acquiring his '69 Camaro SS 396. He's owned it ever since I was 6 months old!
(1974 LOL). Well, my dad is a big time car guy. He currently has a Beretta drag car (pre fab) that ran low 9's he's been trying to sell for over a year.
He also has a badass '40 Ford Coupe street rod.
Well, this guy contacted him from Colorado and is SERIOUS about trading his '65 Corvette for my dad's Beretta drag car.
Thing is...my dad still has the '69 Camaro, but it's not completely restored.
My dad tells me today at lunch he is going to make a deal with me and the '69 Camaro will be mine!!!
This is my favorite car of all time. It's styling, brute power, fun factor. Dont' get me wrong, I have much love for my Hondas, but this is my sentimental love machine. It's just one of those things you can't describe. This car has been in my family ever since I was little and I helped my dad at the drags.
It ran a best of 10.5X!!! Full body, no fiberglass anything.
So...the '69 SS needs:
1) stripped, repainted
2) reupholstered interior
3) more go fast goodies
This '69 SS has numbers that MATCH! If I restore it nicely it will easily be worth $20-$35k!!!
Believe me, I'm not doing it for the $$...but I need suggestions.
Sell the ITR or sell the hybrid?! Keep in mind I will be daily driving whatever car I choose to keep.
Help me do some soul searching.
Thanks,
Todd

HOw is the theft rate in your area? That would be the factor in which one to sell. If its not high then sell the hybrid, if it high then sell the R.
Just my $.02
on the new car

Theft is somewhat a concern yeah, but another thing is the weather here. We have some shitty winters. I don't see myself driving my R is snowstorms with the Blizzaks on.

Todd: Sell the R. The hatchcrap is far more practical and less of a theft target and hte R is worth more. You'll have a very fast fuggen car that's far more fun to drive than an R (imo). ****, if I were you I'd sell both and pimp out a stock 40+mpg VX hatch
Don't you have a thread every month about you selling the R? I say sell the R over the hatch. The hybrid is likely faster, lighter, less of a target for crime, cheaper to insure, and probably cheaper overall.
Do the deal for the Camaro for sure! Keep it in the family. Keep your R and maybe one day your kid will be posting to a board about this cool Type R that my dad had from "back in the day".

Sell the ITR and the hybrid.
Get a cheap, efficient daily driver that you won't mod.
Put all of your time, effort, and money into the '69.

Okay...here's what I'm thinking...
Put BOTH up for sale. Let "fate" do its work. Whichever sells first...is what was meant to be.

how about your other civic?
i say sell the R, sad, but yes
hybrid and 69 camaro sounds nice!
R and camaro both garage cars

Do whatever you feel is right.
But, make sure to get the Camaro. The '67-'69 body style (I know each year is slightly different) is classic.
I say keep all three cars. Don't drive the ITR in the winter. Drive the hybrid/beater.

damn Todd, u change ur mind like every week.
it must be that Nebraska water and fresh air.
id say sell the beater hatch u just bought, sell the R, keep the hybrid
and buy the WRX wagon or sedan.
forget about the classic camaro. u can only enjoy it during the summer months.
ur gonna be paying insurance for a car u will hardly use (like the R)
dude do something

mmm i hate to say it but you can always build another hatch but you can't just buy another mint R anywhere. mmm but then again the winter.

My Si is driven every single winter day here and she still looks beautiful. Sure the front bumper has little chips but that happens any time of the year. I see guys driving E46 M3's in the winter as well as even nicer cars. So I know you could drive the R in the winter.
