Default problem with iac valve

ok guys here is the deal i did a swap on my 98 ex coupe i drop in an ls and my original plug for the iac valve has 3 wires and the ls iac valve has 2 can someone tell me which 2 wires i need or if i have to use all 3 and if so which ones go together thanks in advance guys

The two-wire valve is a linear IACV and the three-wire one is a rotary IACV. You can use any two wires you like as long as you connect them to the correct pins on the ECU. I don't know off hand which terminals lead to the IACV but if no one here points them out, you can look it up in a shop manual.

iacv fix for obd2a


i assume you already have the 2-wire plug on the engine harness?

yes sir i do have that 2wire plug ready to be splice or run to this plugs


mmmm ok i understand that process but isnt easier if i tap to the existing wires on the original plug to make 2 to the plug i have???

and if so can someone tell me which 2 wires i need to tap into out of those 3

im gonna try this tomorrow saturday and if i can figure it out ill post them up which 2 wires i use

oh yeah i forgot to say im using an obda to obd1 convertion with obd1 ls ecu would those pin outs work the same or ill have to modifythem

thats why i want to tap on to the existing plug on the harness to connect the 2 wire plug

i think you still need to follow that diagram because currently your male ecu plug is wired for 3-wire so it will correspond to the wrong pins on the female ecu plug.

really all you need for the iacv to work is one wire from a9 on your obd1 ecu to the iacv and one wire providing 12v power to the iacv

you have two options, trace the wires through the harness and use those or run new wiring.

on your 3-wire plug, turn the ignition on and find which wire have 12v+. you need that one and the blue/black wire

ok guys thanks for all the help i got it working all i did was tap on to the existing wires of the plug with the 3 wires and connect them to the 2 wire plug that i already had and problem solve only thing i forgot the 2 colors of the wires but they r the same so problem fix and my car has no cels yeay lol

ill check the color of the wires tomorrow so someone else that runs into this situation he can fix it fast
