EP3 shifting
There are plastic bushings, but I've never heard of them going bad. There are some replacement aluminum ones that a company made a while back (I have a set sitting on my desk) but I dont think you can find them anymore. There are two cables as well but I have only taken apart my shifter once to replace it with a buddy club, so I can't remember if there were adjustments.
Mine was choppy when I first got it, I did a tranny fluid change and it has gotten alot better. I think all ep3s have a little choppyness to their shifting though.
And if you do want to replace the shifter bushings check out Corsports.com.

K series transmissions are known for being tempermental. There are shifter bushings available at corsportusa.com. Just change your MTF every couple oil changes and that should help out.
... FYI, just getting those parts replaced (along with new clutch and maybe flywheel) and the labor involved would end up costing you just as much as finding something comparable or even upgrading to 6sp, unless you do all your work.
Change the tranny fluid. Also look into buying the CorsportUSA shifter cable bushing and shifter base bushings. They are all aluminum and replace the crappy rubber ones. It made a huge difference in my car and took about 30 minutes total to install. The stock rubber bushings pretty much just fell out of the linkage which means they were very soft.
Well worth the 60 bucks or so I paid for them!

Today when i was drivng i lifted up on the shifter and changed gears, and it shifted alot smoother. Especially 1st to 2nd where it was the baddest. Does this mean i have bad bushing or does something need to be adjusted?
