obd1 motors don't have vin tag?

i was looking at buying an obd1 gsr engine and when i asked about vin number he said these motors in obd1 didn't have vin plates, is this true?

true, only obd2 motors have it

Should call in the block number under motor code to your local pd to be safe just a fyi.
