stay with d series or go to b series??!!?!?
Well its time for me to start saving up. I want to get some advice from you people who know more about hondas/motors then I. I owned a integra ls before some im pretty familiar with the b18.
If i do swap i would like to keep it obd1 so it wouldnt be to much of a hassle.
Im looking to build a pretty quick crx have around 190/200 HP boost or n/a(but would like to push more hp boosting)
Also would like it to be realiable since it will be my DD aswell.
Also a friend told me i should do a dohc ZC swap?
i never heard of a dohc zc and never heard of parts for them......

Life is simple: speed costs money, so how fast do you want to go?
I'm hear ya bro, I'd like a better motor too!
I would stay away form Vtec + boost - it can be a headache. for simplicities sake, pick one or the other.
DOHC ZC is a JDM motor. I got quoted just under $1k with a tranny. Its a nice motor, and there are ODB0/1/2 and SOHC versions. Stock i think the max is like 137hp/108tq *I think*

d series is SOOO much less modding. plus if you go USDM (most of them are) you'll find parts out the wazoo! but you'll be hard pressed to make that kinda power, even with boost. that little motor is gonna need some internal work if your gonna boost it to 200hp at the flywheel.
If your not happy with the power, your gonna swap AGAIN >.< better to measure three times and cut once. consider what you really want out of the car. consult some ppls who have performed the swap, maybe even help out with one so you know what you're gettin your noobass into. not hatin, imma noob too

well since you know a little about your b18 and such
I would swap it in and run it for a while (if it's complete already)
and then maybe further down the road put a b16 head on that thing and go ls/v-tec

well ive been looking for the past 4 min. and i dont think it requires anything like that haha :p but ya i would go with the non-vtec LS if you want to boost it. If you wanna keep it N/A (
) then ya put a vtec head on it and go to town

fix all that is broken and leaking and worn first. Suspension, steering rack, brakes and bushings. then think about adding more power. Everyone always skips this step and it's the most important. Make sure the car is safe and handles properly before you think about a swap

im goin b20 in my rex...everyone talks about the infamous "ticking time bomb" b20, but **** it...u want torque and power thats the way to go...
The b20 is a solid beast! but you need good head work done ($$$) before you mash on it. plus its kinda spendy, and not so many parts from what i've seen and heard. b series means your gonna have to make room for alt by denting ur engine bay. plus custom engine mounts, so your hood may or may not close right, depending on where you get your mounts...it really is easier to put d series in, if you don't NEED the extra power/or have the extra money (like me)
i got an ef with a dohc zc swapped in it and im stompin on b18's all day.... its got about 140hp with my intake and exhaust....pretty reliable and quick...parts arent difficult to come across but arent easy either...most d-series parts would fit check out my youtube channel fourster2 and check out the ole zc rapin a b20 vtec!!!! zc....
If you do it right
$1500-$2000...you can have a built vitara D making 300hp, or a stock block LS running 300hp...
If you don't like challenges, swap a B in there.

are those parts that can be used on a dohc zc ^ ?
but if i wanted to swap a obd1 ls, id have to dent my engine bay a little? and get custom mounts? and mess with my hood?

no messin with the hood, just gotta get the right custom mounts, they'll put the motor in the right place.
Honestly, if you know where to look ZC parts are easy to find (even the "hard to find" ones) because those motors are all over japan, but they're expensive with shipping, and taxes.
That link is a very comprehensive list of things you'll need for the DOHC ZC, so yes they will work for replacement parts too.
