s2k Dreaming..advice?
Hey guys my names Clay and I'm in a pursuit to own a s2000. I have wanted an s2k for a few years but i have been shut down by my parents because of it's "impractically" soo i went with an alternative route and bought a 03 wrx. I love my wrx and have learned a lot with it.
I bought a 83 civic for 25 bucks that has turned into a a lot of work but is almost done, and i think it could be an OK winter car with some snow tires.
About a week ago i had the chance to drive a 2001 bone stock s2000, and once again i loved it! completely different from my wrx but tons of fun!
Sooo now im back on the hunt for an s2k..ive been thinking a lot about trying to trade my wrx for an s2k but im not sure if it's realistic. Looking for stock or close to stock 2000-2003 s2k
So i guess im just trying to seek some advice from s2000 owners..Do you think a trade would be realistic? Should i try to sell my wrx, and then buy a s2k? or should i just keep my wrx? I have all the parts to go back to stage 2, would that be better to part out stage 3 parts and sell it with stage 2?
info on wrx:

You're usually going to get more money selling your car than trading it to a stealer. Like...99.9% of the time.
So try putting yours up for sale first. The S2000 is a nice step up in performance from a WRX. You'll enjoy it. But you might miss the drag friendlyness of the subaru (relatively speaking).

Also you might want to look and see how much insurance is going to cost you. When I got my S2000 and I had Century 21 insurance and it was going to cost me $6,000 for a 6 month premium. I have no accidents or tickets on my record and I'm 26. But i found another company for about $130 a month.

Insurance is hit or miss it seems. We have a family plan with 4 cars on it. I pay just about $80something a month for my S2000. For both my cars (I also have an EM1), it ends up being about $120ish/month full coverage. $250 deductible on both. Towing included, etc. etc. I'm with Allstate.

performance wise, i'd say the subaru has more potential, even on the track. but i wouldn't trade in my s2 for anything, so of course i say do it :D
also, insuring the s isn't bad at all as long as you have a daily listed as your primary car and put the S down as your leisure/pleasure car that you won't be driving a lot. i also pay about 500 every six months for the s and about three hundred for my daily.
you can get a used s for as low as around 10k for a good title (older years). or i got my my01 salvaged for 7k, good luck hunting :D

I will say the driving experience is different. However, performance and experience are two totally different things. On a track I wouldnt say the S2k would really leave a WRX in the dust. Given I've only driven a STI, but the STI would pretty well kick the crap out of the S2k, so I assumed the base would be close in terms of performance.
Hmm didn't mean compare the s2k and wrx..there just so different. If i can get my hands on a s2000 ifs not for power or handling.. its just for then fun i had driving one. I don't think i could ever make as much power as i am with my wrx for the same price with a s2k.
if you are going to go for power in the S, it's doable, but just go straight to boost.
ahhh boost yesss...if i can round up the money for an s2000 i think im going to have to stay away from that for a long time...that stuff can be addicting haha
its all about personal preference. in all honesty though u have to own and get used to the s2000 to truly appreciate it once u have couple "oh ****" moments and push the car 100% u wont want anything else. Im speaking from personal experience I had the pleasure of owning a 00 berlina 2 1/2 years b4 I finally took it too far. Anyways hoping to get another b4 summer hits woooooooooooooooooooooooooot
So you're saying you have to total one out before you can appreciate it? Strange...and yes, it takes some time behind the wheel before you really trust the s2k and know just how far you can push it. Unlike the Integra which is freakin easy to drive. Then again, could just be the difference in the fact I know the s2k will get back-asswards on me whereas the teg will just push a bit.

Hmm this is a difficult decision that can only be solved by owning both! They are two very different cars and are extremely fun in their own respects. Same policy and everything with one of the best insurance companies (cheapest too) and the subaru costs me an extra 200 a year.
On that note I wouldn't give up the wrx for an s2000. I could argue differently if I had as much money invested in my ap1 though.. I'm no help.. lol.

Id go with a s2k over a wrx. just my two cents. My buddys have s2k's and two of my buddys wrxs and the s2ks kill the wrx in the track and handeling. Don't get be wrong the wrx is a nice car when modded.
what year s2k are you thinking of getting?
you can find ap1's for under 9 grand with around 60 k miles and body in almost mint conditon.

hmm i guess im confused about this..i have seen A LOT of s2ks for about 8500-9000 with salvage titles and i want to stay away from that..but i was hoping to get an ap1 with under 100k on it. thats all im looking for. and i cant spend more then about 10k. This realistic?
Also ive seen s2k's with a savage title due to from stolen seats.
