Default Code 4

Been trying to get my civic running again to no avail. Managed to have some daylight to work on it today and pulled the ecu out from under the dash. When I turn the key I get 4 flashes. From what I've seen, code 4 is crank angle sensor. Beyond understanding what the code represents, I have no clue what I'm supposed to do. Can anyone direct me to some useful information?

Just for the record, I'm not asking to be spoon fed any info here. I was easily able to find out what the code represents, I just don't know any solutions. I would prefer to do all the work myself, just need some information to read. Haynes manual doesn't offer ****. From what I've been told, the 88-91s don't even have a ckp sensor, so should I just maintain the assumption that it's distributor failure?

Thanks man, that's what me and a buddy of mine had decided on previously, just was looking for further insight. Never pulled codes from the ecu before today.

The 88-91 do have this sensor. See http://sites.google.com/site/hondali...ributorbearing and http://media.honda.co.uk/car/owner/m...H200/16-48.pdf. Check the wiring to the sensor first. It is possible a wire just came undone. But more than likely the sensor has died. Buy a new OEM distributor housing for maximum reliability, or for much less, get an aftermarket entire dizzy from a place like distributorking.com or Autozone.

Has work been done on this car or is it stock. If you have done any wiring on it, you should look there first. If it is stock, it may be in the distributor.
