Alarm Installed, Sleeping Good Tonight
After a week of having my interior out and piecing it together, I got my Viper 3202 up and running tonight. I have the tilt and motion sensor and the trunk release to set up still, but the keyless entry, dual sirens, battery back up, door sensors, parking lights, hood pin, all working great.
I also threw in a kill switch while i was in the wiring.
Many thanks to SuspendedHatch for all the info and right ups, they helped a lot.
I'm already feeling much better about my "new" low mileage, 95 GSR.

Yes that sounds like a great investment you made for your GSR. Obviously it took a lot of time, but was it difficult to install? I will be getting an alarm for my prelude soon and would love to save a little money by installing it myself.
It was definitely a lot of work but its doable. I Spent probably 15-18 hours over a few days to do the install, and I'm not quite done. Read up on all the reviews on SuspendedHatch's website http://causeforalarm.thecarthing.com...on7/index.html and it will give a general feel for the install. There are also tons of useful threads and info on this forum. DO YOUR HOMEWORK and read up on the installs because there is a lot to learn and understand.
I got the parts and pieces from a discount online retailer. I used http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ but I'm sure there are others. Altogether for the alarm, tilt sensor, radar sensor, backup battery, hood pin, and backup siren for around 300 bucks shipped. Plan on another 50-60 bucks for extra wire, heat shink, split loom, tools, etc.
Good Luck!

Yeah it definately will take a lot of time and research, but I want to install the alarm myself for a few different reasons. If a shop does it, it will cost a lot of money of course, and they will do it as quick as they can and it won't be anywhere near stealth. It will also be nice knowing how the alarm works and where everything is.
I just need to decide what alarm I want to go with. I'm pretty sure I want to get either a viper or a compustar, but can't decide which one. I've heard great things about both.

Causeforalarm is an excellent website for stealth installs. If you use, try to donate what you can. It's a great website and i would hate to see it go away because of lack of funds. You can also check out the12volt.com for all vehicle wire color codes.
I also have a refurbished Viper 5701 2 way with remote start available if you're interested. I purchased a few of them to install. I also have a few DEI accessories.
1. DEI 520T Backup battery for alarm
2. DEI 513 Mini Piezo siren
3. DEI 508D Field Intrusion / Proximity sensor
4. DEI 522T Trunk Release Solenoid
Everything is brand new and sealed in the box.

I just recently got a python (viper?) alarm installed at a mom and pop store, before finding out about a stealth alarm installs. So my alarm is under the steering wheel. I went back to see if they would redo it as a stealth install but they wanna charge 200 -300 to relocate the brain. I paid close to 400 for the alarm . Quick question can i 'technically' extend the wires and do a 'stealth' install as I won't change any thing besides adding a back up battery? I don't mean this to be a tread jack just was wondering.

Sure, you can extend the wires to move the brain, but make sure the wires look factory, meaning use loom and organize them in a way similar to the factore wires..
Also, make sure you solder the wires and use good quality electrical tapes or heatshrink.

OP, great job man. I stealth installed my Viper 5002 back in January and its a great feeling. Lots of work but its very rewarding when you get it done.
micah_m, If your planning to do your own Stealth install do like the OP said and read whats on the Causeforalarm site over and over. You will get a great general idea of whats going on and the little details that might not make sense at first will once you get the alarm and everything in front of you in person. The biggest thing is just to take your time. I probably had 24 total hours wrapped up in mine, make sure you have everything you need to do it right and make it clean.
If you half *** it then you might as well just have a ineffective generic install with all the alarm **** under your steering column.
There were several times I would get frustrated and and just tired of being cramped up in the car soldering, etc and I would just have to make myself walk away for an hour or so just to stretch and re-group.

I have been reading up on it for a long time now, and I think I have decided that I want to go with Viper over Compustar. Compustar has a better range, but Viper seems like its all around better. Can't go wrong with DEI.
I had a few questions though. On causeforalarms.com it says something about choosing an alarm and to not have remote start because it is dangerous for a manual. I was sorta planning on getting either the 5901 or 5902, which both have remote start. Is there a "safe" way to use it for either of these models? If not I might still get either the 5901 or 5902, but just not hook up the remote start.
And also it says to choose one or two of the following:
Glass Breakage DEI 506T
Tilt DEI 507M
Motion/Proximity Crutchfield AU94T
It says if you pick 2 of these then you don't need the shock sensor that came with it, but wouldn't it be better to keep the shock sensor?
I plan on getting
-Battery Backup Module DEI 520T
-Piezo siren
-Either Motion/Proximity AU94T from Crimeguard or else Directed 508D
-Maybe glass break sensor

I think stealth install is more than moving the brain to a location other than under dash.

I would go ahead and ditch that DEI battery backup.
