what would cause the timing belt to come off?
A freind just bought and 88 dx with a d15b. The timing belt is chewing through the plastic cover. I tried to loosen the tensioner and center the belt on the gears and tensioner, but it just goes right back when it is started. the head gasket, timing belt and water pump were supposed to have been done before she bought it. what could cause this?
tensioner bolt is bad. when i bought my old 88 crx couple years ago the belt would constantly hit the cover till i replaced the tensioner and bolt.
thanks, i am going to guess they didn't put the guide back on because there is nothing keeping it on the crank gear. I will tear it apart tomorrow and find out for sure.
