Default trannsmission question.

ok so i've searched and have found answers but not the direct answer i'm looking for, so i hope you guys can give me it.

i'm doing a y8 swap in my rex and i need to know if i pick up a 90-91 si cable tranny will the y8 clutch/pressure plate/flywheel/and axles work with the 90-91 si tranny? i hope it does because i'm nearly cashed out on this swap lol.

thanks in advance for the help

That is INCORRECT information. you CAN use std axles, as it is the OUTER splines that are different, not the inner. i used my stock std axles on my 91 si trans when i swapped it into my 88 std hatch. had 0 axle problems, although the trans had a leaky alxe seal.

my stock (HF) axles are busted. the axles i was wondering about using are the ones off the y8 swap i have cause i wanna buy an si cable trans but im broke and cant afford si axles so i was asking if i could use the y8 ones with the si tranny.

BTW: i just put DA hubs on so i can use axle with bigger outter spline

OH. you have one of two choices. First, and probably the best choice, you'll have to install new steering knuckles from either a dx, ex, or si crx/civic, or a DA (90-93) integra.

i say this is the best way, because you have to do this either way if you go b series, so it helps you or perhaps a different owner down the road if you or them decide to go b series.

the other option would be to buy new or good used (just get new ones) hf axles.

yes, the y8 axles will fit in the si trans, but idk if they'll fit in your stock knuckles
