A while back, I brought the car to the dyno (D16Y7/8 minime) and set the cam gear advanced 2 degrees for a few hp; do I set the valve lash when the cam gear is at 0 degrees now or do I leave it where it is (the valve lash was set properly a few months before it was at the dyno)?

I'm pretty sure you leave the lash alone, but you need to reset you distibutor timing back with a timing light.

As long as the rocker is on the base circle when you adjust the valve you are OK.

Leave it where it is. No need to readjust the gear to set your valve lash...
Just out of curiosity, you have any graphs showing how 2 degrees affected your powerband?

I realize that I didn't really specify why I was asking.

It was more like a year and a half ago; I put a bunch of miles on the car since (long commute to work) and probably should check the valve lash as they're making a bit of noise.

"I'm pretty sure you leave the lash alone, but you need to reset you distibutor timing back with a timing light"

I remembered this about a year ago, but it's at 14BTC (+2 limit); I've been running 93 and there's no pinging. I was going to go back to the dyno last summer and play a little more with timing (ignition and cam) a Fields, Blox intake manifold, and a BBK throttle body, but the TB turned out defective and the controller started freaking out one day..never got there.

"As long as the rocker is on the base circle when you adjust the valve you are OK."

This makes sense; because when you're adjusting the valve (at TDC of each piston), you're adjusting it when it's closed, correct? That being said, shouldn't I still adjust it according to when the crank shows TDC, not the cam?

"Just out of curiosity, you have any graphs showing how 2 degrees affected your powerband?"

I only took home the last graph, but it was 114.5hp and 95ftlbs at peak before and when I looked at them on top of each other, it gained a bit everywhere; however they only started recording it around 3K rpm and I'm sure the low end was a different story.

Thanks everybody.
