Icon2 Manual steering rack into DC Integra question!???

OK. i have researched and researched and nobody seems to answer this ONE question... WILL the 92-95 cx manual steering rack bolt DIRECTLY up to the 95 Integra?? OR do u NEED a cx subframe to put on the integra??? and will the knuckle joint on the integra need to be replaced with a cx one for the steering shaft to connnect to the steering column???

thank you very much..

and no, i dont want to loop the p/s in my integra. thnx

Just use the stealthmodeperformance ps delete kit. It's 92 shipped. It's a way better option imo.

You need the subframe because the holes where the rack bolts too do not line up.

so i was thinkin and this kinda makes sense to me.... wen u get a manual steering rack...there is no "fluid" in it..its just grease... so if i have pulled the p/s pump and everything else off...and been driving the car around for 3 years like that...the rack itself is not going to go bad from that...it would just ruin the p/s pump if i still had it on there... correct??? so maybe i dont even need a new rack/pinion...?

The manual rack will feel lighter than your manual-powered rack, due to the manual rack's slower ratio and more turns LTL. But you end up having to turn the wheel more to make the same turns than you did before.

People who do the vented power rack setup swear it feels as good as a manual rack, but with the quicker ratio and fewer turns LTL of the power rack.

hhmmm.....ok. so couldn't i just put a hose from one nipple looped around to the other one and that should keep the fluid in?

That would keep the fluid in, but won't provide room for expansion/contraction and such. That's why the vent is used.

A lot of people do exactly as you already have. Just toss it all in the trash and call it a day. Some have good luck with it and some don't. To be on the safe side most just loop the rack and leave some fluid in there for lubrication purposes. The down fall is when you turn the wheel you fight against air pressure and sometimes it feels like the wheel is being jerked away from you. That is why people run the breather setup. There is no resistance as far as air pressure goes and you still get to keep fluid in the rack for lube and no jerky feeling. There are people who due this the cheap route and others who spend some cash. I've seen it done from $5-$100. Me personally I'm getting the stealthmode performance kit for $92 shipped and it includes everything except a resevoir. A quick trip to the local salvage yard to go "look around" and I'll have a spare clutch master cylinder resevoir that will work perfectly. Btw this setup is just like what is ran by realtime racing. I think if it's good enough for their racecars then it will work for my street car. Hope this helps. Links for good measure.

wow. thank you so much for all your info! i appreciate that! my goal is to keep the feeling of the manual rack. i dont like any sort of power steering/power assist feeling. i like to feel like im driving/controlling my car ya know. so maybe for now i'll just keep the rack how i have it. and keep looking into the cx rack/subframe. idk how much a effin subframe is gonna cost...im sure its not cheap.
