Rear End advice?? Best drag setup
hey guys, just got rid of my eg and got an AP2, i was wondering what aftermarket rear end setups you drag/track guys were running? looking for something i don't have to worry about when i launch.
Ford 9" here.
The only available bolt in style setup available is the R200 kit sold by Inline Pro, and CFT is selling a Ford 8.8" IRS style setup as well that is also a "bolt in" so I here.
Unless you are wanting to do a lot of fab work, those 2 options are the only available.

The 8.8 IRS seems like an awesome choice. I always wanted to see this rear end used, then heard of CFT using it. If i had a S2000 this would be number 1 one on my list of things to do.
I've spoke w/him in depth regarding his rearends.
For the $$, it's the best bang for your buck imo.
It's what I'll be doing when it's time.
The other options are awesome, but big $$.

Yes, I broke a ring gear, and a stub shaft.
However, I ran all year on a R200 without any issues. We did some trick stuff with the suspension towards the end of the year which netted the 2 breakages you see below.
They seem to hold up good until you have the suspension dialed in to hook. Let it spin a bit, and they'll last forever.
If your goals are just running mid/high 10's the R200 is great, if you want to get into the 9's, you either need to make a crap stack of power so you can make it up on the back half, or use a different rear end setup to last for any period of time.

also what tranny are you going to use?

I decided to put a Ford 9" in the car instead. More available gear ratios, and stronger. I figured I only want to go thru the trouble one more time. And overall, it's cheaper and stronger to go the route I went. Luckily I have a really good fabricator as a friend.
I'm not saying what trans I'm running yet.
But don't worry, it's still a manual.

The trans is currently available to anyone. However, I'm not sure about the adapter plate or not. I would need to check with the guy that made it.
As far as turbo setup. I'm going to be running a S372R Bullseye Power turbo. It's basically an all new setup. Different trans, rear end, turbo and intake manifold, turbo, wastegates, downpipe, exhaust, tires, wheels, fuel pump, injectors, etc.
I'll probably post up a build thread once I get some good progress on it.

i hear people talking about how weak they are but if you had 400 hp how long would a stock rear end last, i understand there are a lot of things that come into play, how often do you beat on it, drag it launch it, slicks and all that. but say if you were to drive it normally and go to the track here and there would one last a while or is it doomed asap.
look at guys from raw power here in florida you can give them a call they have one s2 with 2j making 900hp with a good bolt in rear end 954 562 0531 or 954 2579787 andres or richard
