How many suggestions can there really be?

Rebuild your current engine
Get a new motor and swap it
Buy a new car
Walk or Ride a bike

Why spend good money rebuilding a B18A1 when you can get one from Pull-a-part for $135???

depends on youre budget and goal is.
might be cheaper to buy a swap from h-motors or somewhere else.
or if you want to build for boost
send the motor out and sleeve it
it all depends on what you want.,,

Finding a good used motor and swapping it in yourself is the cheapest and quickest fix. Rebuilding takes more money and time.

Much less a 90-93 right? Just assumed off of the lack of details and the fact that he didnt realize what his basic 2 options were. Probably a pretty good assumption though.

well supposibly the guy who had the car before me put new rod bearings and rings.

he had to keep making it a point that he put chromoly rings. "chromoly rings, chromoly rings, chromoly rings. im like " i dont give a *****".

anyways, im thinkin if he did rebuild im thinkin i can get away with just fixing the problem, which is most likely either a rod bearing torque thing, or some **** with the wrist pin.

but on the other hand i was thinkin about putting low compression pistons in for a later planned turbo. how bad would that affect drivability without a turbo on. would i risk damaging the engine?

and even on another note, i would like gsr swap, but they want like 1800 for complete engine, with no ecu or harness, bout 1200 for just the long block.

so maybe ls/vtec?

i am on a tight budget. i can maybe squeeze out about $200 a month for the car.

what should i do?

Ya it's CRV. It's popular because it's torquier than B18's, and super cheap.

It's a B, so it can work with any B tranny, mounts, head, etc.

so i have decided i am going to pull out the engine this weekend and fix the problem.

now please correct me if i am wrong but the rod knock could only be one of two things:

-rod bearing

-wrist pin

i will need IM gasket, EM gasket, head gasket, oil pan gasket, oil, and whatever is broken. let me know if im missing anything.

well now after i see this list of parts, im realizing that this is going to cost more than a pick and pull motor.

sigh.

Crank and Rods are probably toast.....usually a spun bearing eats them alive. Long block B18A replacement will be cheaper, though probably have unknown mileage.

you know the best thing is to start a new posting called rebuilding or something like that. post pictures as you go. I dont think you will need to take out the shaft. notice things loose or broken. like I said post pictures as you go and you should be fine. I did a misshift like 2 months ago and bent all exhaust valves and just opened my motor and had my friend do the valve job. I did the rest myself. I installed new rings and new gaskets.
If you start a new Posting, send me or PM me a link.

GOOD lUCK

no dont get a pick-and-pull motor. You dont know the miles and usually some dude just needs some little bolt and he will take stuff he needs off the motor. Plus you might spend a couple hundred bucks more but you will know that you were the one putting the motor together and that it has new gaskets. Maybe even slap in some new piston rings. I got some nippin racing piston rings from ebay. their not the super best but it will do for my gsr

make sure to get the torque specs for all the internal parts

simple, call hmo and get a good low mile jdm ls or b20, and swap it out, keep your current motor for your future turbo build. Always easier to build a motor on the side, rather than have all the down time while your dd is sent out.
