A Different DPFI to MPFI Conversion Question.
I have a 91 honda crx with a D15b2 engine in it. It is the dreaded Dual Point Injection setup. I don't like the whole idea of cutting, splicing and running "extra wires" into the engine bay. If im thinking correctly the problem is that my harness just doesn't have enough wires to run all the injectors for mult-point. I have access to a complete SI wiring harness... The Engine harness AND the harness under the dash as well as the ecu. I could just change the entire harness and be "converted" correct? Would I still have to obtain and use a resistor box if i went this route? I know it would be a pain in the a** to swap the harness under the dash but my dash is already out so it shouldnt be that bad. Any info that might help me here would be appreciated. Sorry for the noob-ish question but I haven't heard of anyone going this route.
If you swap out ALL the harnesses in the for to one from a respective year and model crx si then you will be ok. I did the same thing to mine
I think you'll find that the splicing/addition of wiring will be less hassle/work/headache than swapping out the entire harness on both ends; engine/inside. Even with the dash removed.
You'll still need a resistor box, but that's opinion.
All the information you gather on the swap can be overwhelming at first but like most of them say, it's not that difficult but rather easy once you dig in.

laopadak303: Yea I'm just kind of a neat freak when it comes to this kind of stuff. I like to keep all wiring as factory as possible... Plus i have been reading alot about the conversion and all the pins and wiring diagrams honestly have confused the hell out of me lol.
crx_si-r: When you say you did this to yours did you need anything other than the engine harness, dash harness, and ecu?

i did it because i double checked all my wires to make sure there are no cut wires. when i got the car it had a hacked up harness to begin with, so this seemed like the better route.
to swap out the entire harness you will need the following: from the *same year donor EF as yours:
Engine harness
Rear cabin harness (from fuse box to tail lights)
Dash harness makes no difference if its an si or dx (i re-used my DX dash harness)
Main Cabin Harness (fuse box to ECU and ECU to headlights)
thats about it. took me less than a day to swap out
by "same" i mean the following:
same year 88-89 and 90-91
if you have an 89 and go with a 91 harness you will need the dash harness and cluster from the 91 donor car

Just make sure you take detailed notes/pictures
and label all connections if you plan on swapping out the entire harness..
I know someone who fried 2-3 wiring harnesses just because he kept
hooking a single ground wire to a positive terminal on a bike he was rebuilding..
I swapped in a B-16 at the same time as I did the DPFI to MPFI conversion
and had a good part of the wiring already done while the car was still
running in stock form..
