What type auto trans fluid are you guys using?
I need to change fluid in 95 EX and don't know what to use.
Need opinions.

Honda ATF

 

I honestly dont have a clue why people EVER have a doubt in their mind what tranny fluid to use. Honda makes their own, its specifically made for honda trannys. It must be what they recommend and want honda owners to use. Not tryingto be a dick, just these type of questions make no sense.

well you COULD argue that it's confusing when a lot of us M/T guys use GM synchromesh or what not..

Yes. You should use no other in Honda automatics.

You can get it from the dealer. It's a little expensive, but not horrible.

 

I think using the "HONDA" MTL is more important as honda doesnt use the norm thicker oil for transmissions. ( when using a 5 speed transmission ).


For automatics:

They use a standard style oil for Automatic . What is so different about a honda automatic vs a toyota automatic ?

I normally use honda ATF, But I needed to change fluid and was going to use the valvoline ATF just for a few days till my honda dealership got ATF back in stock. But I was suprised that the Valvoline stuff worked great if not better. So Im using that now ( it was also 1/3 of the price ) 5 litres of valvoline premium synthetic honda compliant ATF was $ 16 vs , 5 litres of Honda ATF $ 44 . ( Using 5 litres for comparison ) ( Price is in Canadian dollars , yes we get taken advantage of with our pricing versus yours ).

edit: if your transmission is relatively low miles, ( under 50k ) I would purchase the honda fluid.
