How do I know when I am out or range of my car?
Ok, I know if I am out of range and I try to unlock/lock the doors it will give me the out of signal sign on the remote.
But, I think thats a shitty way to know. If I am far away from my car why would I be trying to arm/disarm my alarm anyways?
For instance, I was in wal-mart the other day around mid morning. I was in the back of the store in the car wash products area picking up some wax. I pull my remote out of my pocket and see its flashing the RX symbol every few seconds. According to the manual the RX symbol means the remote is recieving signal from the brain in the car so I think cool. I'm still in range.
Later that day I was out with my bro and like 6 miles from my car and I look at my remote and still see RX flashing every few seconds..I am like "huh? There is no way I am in range".. So I tried unlocking my car and sure enough I get the out of signal response.
So now I feel mislead by what I was thinking while I was in walmart when I thought as long as its flashing RX on the screen i am in range. Is there anyway to tell if you are within range of your car other than trying to unlock the car? Of course if it unlocks you know you are within range and can quickly lock/arm the alarm again.
I have done some searching but can't find anything and the manual just states you know your out of range when you press a button and get the out of range signal.

It's really hard to tell your range depending on the alarm you have. What I do is just press the lock and unlock, if it unlocks I just lock it back. If it does not unlock the first time, I know I'm far out of the range.
Many times if I'm in the movies or at the mall, I will unlock and lock to see the status of my car and if there are any updates that I may have missed. Just make sure you don't unlock and forget to lock it back.
Sometimes to if you're close to the range marker, you may click the button and it will not show any alerts, but it could still unlock your car but no response would be sent back to the pager because of a delay. You definitely do not want that to happen.

Thanks for the reply man. Appreciate it. So it looks like the unlock/lock method is the best way we have to go about it. I guess thats not that big of a deal, like you said though you just gotta make triple sure you don't get distracted and forget to lock/arm the car afterwards. Thanks again.
