neep help on choosing a FMU for turbo LS
hey guys. I want to turbo my 98 ls integra. the motor was just rebuilt less then 10,000 miles ago. I want something really simple and reliable. I find plenty of decent turbo kits on craigslist, but I need help choosing a FMU. I want to run 8-10psi and 440 injectors and 255 fuel pump. t3/t04e turbo kit. would the blox FMU 12:1 be good enough? or should it be better overall to go with a chipped ecu and crome? or something along those lines? nothing too extensive. I was hoping to do this myself and not have to get it tuned at a shop. Is there a program or basmap i can download to a chiped ecu and tell it what i have and want for psi? so it can just b plug n play? whats the best way to go for this? sorry for the questions. just new to this. any help would b much appricated!!! i want to buy this ASAP

Get a chipped ecu for sure, this isn't the 90s. If you want to do it yourself, get neptune, ectune, or hondata. If you are going to have a shop do it (which i would suggest if you don't know what you are doing), you would be fine with crome, but the others would be better.

your on the wrong path...you cant go cheap with a turbo system
alot of ym friends learned the hardway...if your gonna cheap out..cheap out on a manifold or turbo...you can geta way with that..but for Gods sake do not go a cheap route with tuning..that is the most essential and important part of a turbo system...you got alot of reading to do...hit up the stickys in this forum and read up...turbos fun but **** man...if you mess up the tuning..or your afr's...say goodbye to your motor

hey guys, thanks for the help. I actually do know a thing or two about turboing a car the right way, but not a cheap way. I actually have a ftw peakboost turbo kit with hondata s3oo and a fully build gsr that I am currently building, but what I didn't know is how to do a turbo set up in a "cheap" way if you will. i wanted something plug n play since it was just going to be on low boost and everyday driver. so i take it that i should still go with a chipped ecu and uberdata or crome. do u know of a place that i can send out the ecu and they can program it for me if I give them my setup and what boost i want? I'm just trying to save time and money on making a trip to the dyno on a car I really dont want to spend a lot of time and money on. thanks again for the help guys!

12:1 vortech FMU, factory cams, walbro 255HP fuel pump and you should be safe for 6-8psi. On an LS motor it will be plenty safe, it just won't make too much power, don't listen to haters saying your going to blow up your motor, it's simply not true, especially with the lower CR of the LS.

maybe I didn't make myself too clear. I'm building a different car,2000 civic with a peakboost turbo kit and fully built b18c1. I know how to build a turbo car the "right" way and thats what I'll be doing with my civic. but i just bought a 98 ls with a rebuilt motor and I wanted to do a turbo kit on low psi, but didn't want to spend a lot of money taking it to a tuner. it sounds like thats what i should end up doing anyways though. but i thought there was a place I could send my ecu and have it programmed for 8psi and have it sent back, avoiding having to drive to a shop and getting it tuned. but if thats what i need to to, then I will! thanks
Just take your ECU to one of the shops listed so you don't have to deal with shipping/waiting time. Tell them your setup/what you have and they'll make a BASEMAP accordingly so you can actually drive your car. But if it blows because you were beating on it with a basemap, that's all your bad, Lol.
^This is correct, unless it's for identical setups. Even then, take it to a tuner because not all engines are the same, regardless if they have identical turbo setups.

First of all, those FMU's are very picky, and secondly, if you think about the fuel pressures associated with that, our cars fuel systems, even with RC or Precision or whatever injectors are not designed for that... Think about it like this, 40-45 psi base pressure + 12 psi increase per 1 lb boost @ 8 psi boost = roughly 136-141psi fuel pressure... Have fun with that!!
lol the first car I turboed back in 1999 was a DRAG3 on a 98 Integra GS-R too. The first four years and 50,000 miles it was FMU/check-valve setup. I'm still driving that car today. 
I'm just saying if you must run an FMU setup for whatever reasons you have, this (me and blinx advice) is how you do it.
